Im Jahr 2020 erklärte das von Jens Spahn geleitete Gesundheitsministerium, Leihmutterschaft gefährde das Kindeswohl und die Entwicklung des Kindes. 2026 umging Spahn dieses Verbot, indem er sein eigenes Kind per Leihmutter in den USA austragen ließ. Prinzipien scheinen für manche nur zu gelten, bis sie selbst betroffen sind.

Die AfD bleibt bei diesem Thema gewohnt standhaft: Keine rechtliche Anerkennung von Auslands-Leihmutterschaften in Deutschland, strikte Werbeverbote und ein klares Verbot von Kindern als käufliche „Lifestyle-Accessoires“.
