Tanja read the words as if numbed.
Written on a pathetic piece of paper. Not even the elegant stationery from her own company.
Instead…
Something inside her tightened.
She stared at the lines again.
Then — a sharp, piercing scream tore from her lips.
Within seconds, the letter was ripped into a thousand pieces.
The fragments scattered across the floor.
She sank down, curling in on herself, rocking slightly.
Her eyes filled with tears —
tears of rage, of fear.
Then her hand moved, frantic, reaching for her phone.
She wiped the tears away stubbornly, almost angrily.
Her fingers typed in a number.
A deep breath...
A man’s voice answered on the other end.
Not her ex-husband. Someone else.
“Benedikt… I need your help.”
Her tone shifted — controlled, businesslike.
“You still owe me. I helped you, remember?”
She left the message.
Then raised an eyebrow slightly.
Another notification. Her eyes widened.
*Kitty…?*
How long had it been?
A soft smile appeared —
a small light in the darkness.
Quickly, she typed a message. 📱
“Oh, how wonderful. Time for a little private baby shower!”
A playful pause.
“I’ll gladly come — as long as you don’t open the door in your pajamas.”
She sent it.
Then her gaze fell back onto the chaos around her.
The torn letter. - The overturned chair.
Sometimes…..
she didn’t have control over her emotions.

Her eyes widened again, a playful grin spreading across her face.
But then it faded.
Worry lines crept into her forehead.
She bit her lip.
“Sometimes… you have to let things go… just to maybe find them again.”
Her voice softened.
“That’s how it is with love.”
A small pause.
“Sometimes you’re meant for each other… and sometimes…”
She looked at her, searching.
“I know that thing with the phone — he used to be like that with me too. But I was more strict. .”
A faint, knowing expression crossed her face.
“And another thing… he always left the door open.”
Her gaze drifted for a moment.
“There was no reason for him to close it anymore. Nothing left he needed to protect.”
She looked back at her.
“Did he ever tell you that?”
Tanja’s lips twitched again —
and the smile slowly returned.
“But the two of you… you found your way back.”
Her tone warmed.
“And now he has a reason to close that door again.”
She gestured lightly toward Kitty’s belly.
“That reason… is you.”
A softer smile.
“…and the little one.”

Tanja shrugged lightly.
“Well… at first, I didn’t think they were related either.”
A faint smirk.
“They’re so completely different.”
She tilted her head, her tone sharpening slightly.
“One of them is a complete bastard — ruthless, selfish, always looking out for himself.”
A brief pause.
“But then again… I suppose I’m not all that different.”
Her lips curved faintly.
“And the other one? The exact opposite.”
Her gaze softened for just a moment.
“Caring. Devoted to his family. Always trying to do the right thing.”
A quiet breath.
“He even managed to tame me for a while.”
Her voice lowered.
“He didn’t just see the witch in me… he saw the person behind it.”
She let out a small, frustrated sigh.
“Our family is strange anyway… but then again—”
She stopped herself, frowning slightly.
Her eyes returned to Kitty.
“I just hope... Gibbs,.. he knows what he has in you.”
A beat.
“Especially now… when you need him more than ever.”
Her tone grew colder.
“And instead, he’s off taking care of his job.”
Another pause.
“A job where people don’t always come back.” her tone became deeper.
She bit her lip, just briefly.
Then she inhaled deeply.
“I hope he made sure you’re well taken care of. If something happens..

Tanja raised an eyebrow, her mind clearly at work.
She had studied people long enough to know what they were thinking.
Kitty was tough. Strong. - And definitely no naïve little Mary Sue.
Tanja’s smile widened the moment Kitty mentioned she was open to new music.
“Oh, really?”
A teasing pause.
“But I should warn you… I’ll gladly accept your offer — but once you do, it becomes a contract.”
Her large eyes fixed on Kitty again, unblinking.
“There’s no escaping after that.”
Then she tossed her head back with playful confidence.
“I have quite the record collection.”
A subtle smirk.
“How about this? I invite you to our little… modest estate and introduce you to it.”
Her tone turned delightfully theatrical.
“And of course, our staff prepares excellent food.”
A knowing gesture followed.
“Exquisite, I assure you.”
