Jesus Christ. All we’ve done is shorten races the last decade. FULL STOP!!! enough is enough. If the on track product is good you don’t even realize it’s a long race in terms of time.
What happens next year when the same 400 mile race ends at 2hrs & 37mins because there were only stage cautions during the event? Cautions/wrecks make a big difference in the @NASCAR world when it comes to time of event. The guys on #TMD this morning were real quick to bring up baseball and how much shorter games are now compared to a handful of years ago. Last I checked MLB did not “shorten” the game. MLB game is still 9 innings. The MLB implemented rules to speed the process up but they did not shorten the game.
Other note:
This is not as important on streaming as it is on network television. Let’s say we shorten a handful of more races. Fox & NBC now give X, Y & Z races a 2.5hr window to complete . Do you think they’re just going to drop off the already slotted time slots of commercial breaks? That’s a big fat NOPE. Just for example. Say they previously had a race slated for 3 hours with 7 full screen commercials. They’re not dropping 1-2 of those commercials off bc the race is approximately 30 mins shorter in time. Thats big $$ they would miss out on. They’re going to squeeze those same amount of commercials into that 2.5 hr window. In return the fan gets screwed 2 ways. Less racing overall (race is now shorter) and the big network is showing more commercials during that time frame.
@_timwilson_@leclercelliott_ Setting up for the big points and win. Best option rn. Would have been different if we didn’t wreck ourselves out of a 600 mile race on mile 80 and get 1 point. Let’s win.
@All_Things_Mavs As a Mavs fan. I can not and will not root for the spurs. I watched them and their annoying ass coach win my whole life growing up. I’m good on that for life.
