He/Him: Physicist translating advanced technologies from the lab (mostly) for medical reasearch with Heriot-Watt University and University of Edinburgh.
Excited to see this now published by Caitlin Tye , out now in BioMedical Optics Express (Optica).

It was great to be involved in this event and be invited to (badly) express some of my opinions - thinking about bridging the gap between emerging technologies and real world applicaitons....
We in @IOPMED love pushing for more physics to reach healthcare.
For anyone that wants to know:

Incredibly excited that our MicroTex Hub has been selected for funding by @EPSRC.
Our team will develop new tools for experimental medicine in the lung, accelerating new therapies for inflammation and infection.

Another excellent #Photon24 with the @IOPOpticalGroup @IOPMED@iop_conferences and a great time had in conversations with the community. Proud of my group for the work they presented, and we did enjoy the very large sparkly signs....
@IOPOpticalGroup @IOPMED@iop_conferences@dynafluors And András Kufcsák presented our translation too clinic of a time resolved medical device - and I forgot to take a photo!
The Single Photon Workshop abstract deadline has been extended to 26th July. So far, there has been a huge response to the conference. See web-site for more details on abstract submission and confirmed invited speakers.

Great work from Caitlin!

The power of many single photon detectors in a CMOS SPAD array to spectrally multiplex, then measure temperature at all points on a fibre using time.
With @uCare_EPSRC and @HWU_Physics
@OpticaPubsGroup@uCare_EPSRC@HWU_Physics@QuantumSensors As these types of detectors become industrially produced (for LIDAR / self driving cars) I think it is interesting to see how we can apply them to these kind of alternate practical applications.
But in the end - we did it for fun!
