I wish more people understood that absence can be just as traumatizing or triggering as presence. An absence of love, connection, protection, validation, attention, care, prioritization, etc can be traumatizing and triggering. Neglect is abusive. And it leaves you feeling empty.

Let’s consider some reasons people may not be engaging in the ways others deem important:

*Unmotivated
*Depressed
*Have different priorities
*Issues w/ exec functioning
*Medical problems
*Grieving
*Disabled
*Disinterested

Stop telling trauma survivors to “take responsibility” for their abuse.

Survivors did not ask for, solicit, encourage, enable, manifest, or “allow” their own victimization.

Abuse is NEVER the victim’s fault or responsibility.

You should completely boycott BetterHelp. Not only it’s a Zionist corporation, but they also don’t screen their therapists, meaning that not all therapists are actual licensed therapists and it’s also a scam. If you need therapy, contact a local therapist and go face-to-face.

As a therapist with a social media presence, I don’t gatekeep information that could help people. I share as much as I can.

I do however think the psychology field should gatekeep some of its language. The misuse and overuse of therapyspeak is leading to harm and misinformation.

Trauma responses, like fight, flight, freeze, flop, & fawn, tend to mirror the stages of grief-- denial (flight), anger (fight), bargaining (fawn), and depression (freeze).

This whole couple therapist prank conversation & valuing our time conversation reminded but last month a 21y/o engineering student booked a session with me. I messaged to ask them if they could reschedule to another earlier time or some other day for some personal reasons+

Anyway, the idea was so awful as well, & I told them that they sounded so utterly ignorant with 0 MH literacy. I pray for whoever this person goes to next & for the future of this country’s MH because I’m tired af.

As someone who has been in this for a decade, it was new information to me that to reduce stigma, we needed to hide / talk about it less. +
