106 years ago, Ukrainian forces rebelled in Lviv and established a revolutionary Ukrainian Republic

It will be known as Western Ukrainian People's Republic.

Just 1,500 soldiers, unsure, unprepared, worrying about what the next day will be, still believed that they can achieve freedom. They, together with elected deputies and all the Ukrainian organizations and parties, acted.

Then, there were Ukrainian flags all over on the administrative buildings of Lviv and a manifesto:

After five hundred and seventy-eight years of slavery, humiliation and insults, You, the Ukrainian People, once again became your own master on your land, your own sovereign.

Several hundred-year-old shackles are broken, a long-lasting prison is broken, and before you, Ukrainian People, a sunny path to a bright national existence opens up.

Your feat is the victory of truth over injustice, will over slavery, light over darkness,

This is the victory of democracy, people's rule over oligarchy, over the enslavement of the majority by the privileged minority!

Ukrainian People!
In the state created by You, there will be no enslavement of nation by nation, and there will be no domination of the rich and economically stronger over the poor and economically weaker.

In the Ukrainian State, all citizens, regardless of language, religion, race, status or gender, will be truly equal before the law, and the democratic system through and through, based on general, equal, direct, secret and proportional suffrage, starting from the community and ending at the state, will ensure the supreme voice in the state of the demos, the masses of the working people.

The peasant and the worker will be the basis and helmsman of the state. The Ukrainian parliament, which will be elected and convened as soon as the region calms down, will carry out a fair land reform, by virtue of which the land of large land plots will be transferred to the ownership of the landless and small owners. Labor legislation will ensure labor an 8-hour workday, will provide security for the elderly and disability insurance to work and in general full labor protection!
