Today is Miko's first birthday. ❤️🎂🐴

But before we celebrate...

there's something you don't know about him.

Many of you know Miko as the mischievous little donkey who steals everyone's attention.

The one who greets every visitor at the gate.

The one who follows people everywhere, nibbles on shirts, and somehow makes every donkey, every person and every day at our sanctuary a little brighter.

But that's only the Miko everyone sees.

The Miko I know...

has a story that still brings tears to my eyes.

He almost never took his first breath.

He changed another little life forever.

And from the day he was born, he's filled our sanctuary with love, laughter, mischief and hope.

In just a few hours, I'm going to share Miko's story with you. I think you'll understand why he's so special to all of us.

And in a couple of days, Darling will celebrate her birthday too. Since these two beautiful souls were born only days apart and have grown up side by side, I'll be sharing their birthday celebration together. ❤️🎉
