Ontario is calling on the federal government to join us as we continue widening Highways 11 and 17 in northern Ontario.
These highways are a vital link not just for northern communities but for all of Canada, supporting trade, national security and economic growth. As we continue building a stronger, more united Canadian economy, we need federal support to make these critical highways safer and more reliable for northern communities and all Canadians.
There’s no better place to kick off this Spring than in Earlton — the heart of the Little Clay Belt!
Sixty years strong, it was great to stop by the Earlton Farm Show and catch up with farmers, producers and ag leaders, seeing first-hand the strength of Northern Ontario’s growing agriculture sector. From equipment dealers and vendors to kids’ activities and live auctions, this show truly has something for everyone.
Our government will keep showing up for farmers to support growth, create opportunity, and keep agriculture thriving across the North.
Just over a year ago, I was honoured to be entrusted by Premier @fordnation to serve as Ontario’s Minister of Northern Economic Development and Growth.
Since then, we’ve been focused on what matters most, delivering for the North. From strengthening communities to supporting local businesses and creating and maintaining good-paying jobs, we’re making real progress across Northern Ontario.
I’m proud of the work we’ve done, and even more motivated for what’s ahead. We’ll keep building a stronger, more resilient North.
Ontario is investing more than $10.7 million to build and upgrade bridges and culverts along the North’s winter roads — strengthening vital seasonal connections for remote and Indigenous communities.
This funding will support new modular bridges, culverts and key engineering work across the network, helping communities access essential goods, jobs, services and economic opportunities throughout the winter season. This investment will make winter travel safer, more reliable and more resilient for families across the North.
Another step toward supporting strong, connected and self‑reliant northern communities.
