Making the murder of Henry into an issue of collective punishment and responsibility for all Sikhs is being presented as some kind of logical conclusion or policy issue when it is in fact just the fear and racism that underpins whiteness manifesting itself, as it does, as “common sense”.
And by the way Sikh women, elders, children wear a kirpan, it’s not just men. We wear it because we are sovereign and want to be able to defend ourselves, which has always been common sense to us as this racism is nothing new to us. Yesterday was 50 years since Gurdeep Singh Chagger was killed in Southall.
Why, when one individual commits a wrongdoing do some Sikhs immediately begin presenting a collective CV to the nation? Why do we feel compelled to list our good deeds in order to prove that we deserve to remain?
"That incident is the perfect example about how this policy of us staying silent because they're coming for the neighbour is futile because look how quickly it went from Muslims to Sikhs."
You know I wish people would get it in their thick heads Labour are having to clean up Tories mess. It’s not Labour who decimated and rinsed the country. If Tories hadn’t wasted and lost £Bs, neglected public services, under funded councils, let shit be pumped into our rivers and seas, we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in now… people would do well to remember that.
