The entire online Right—from Libs of TikTok to various pro-Trump White Nationalists—spend their lives engaging in what amounts to "Prole Outrage Bait."

Though the online Right mostly talk to themselves, their imagined audience is comprised of good, hard-working folk, completely non-ideological. At some point, there is going to be some news story—perhaps a brutal rape or murder or particularly egregious transsexual march—that knocks the proles off the fence and leads them to “spaz out,” that is, forcefully and brutally engage in street violence in an effort to “take their country back” or “make them pay.” The Right’s tweeting about these outrages allows them to participate in the mayhem.

With regard to the riots in England, I’m not saying that “nothing ever happens.” Obviously, something is happening! But what exactly do you think the final outcome of these happenings is going to be? Do you think the people rioting out on the streets are going to “take over”? Do you think they won’t be cracked down on for generating chaos? Do you think the Muslims will be shipped home anytime soon? Lashing out is emotionally satisfying. There is no reason to believe it leads to anything beyond arrests and later demoralization.

The Right's ongoing refusal to imagine anything beyond "Prole Outrage Bait" is, in the end, the real problem.
