This paper mentions phone numbers to call when a loved one's death occurs and the loved one had wanted to donate organs after death.
I wrote it out to make it easy for families to donate.
Actually no pledge card is needed.
As long as willingness of family is there to donate.
#OrganDonation
✅ When death happens at home then the eyes and the skin can be donated.
✅ It is a very different situation if there is a loved one in the ICU and doctors have talked about brain death being a possibility. If so, the family member thinking about donating organs of their loved ones (in case brain death is confirmed) can call the very same numbers on how to proceed.
In case of a brain death situation, the heart lungs kidneys liver etc can also be donated.
Dear Friends,
We have a bitter story to share from Milan, Italy. Our passports, money and credit cards were stolen on March 5, 2024. Sunitha and I were just entering the Milan Central railway station, Italy, to take a train to Florence, to attend & present our research papers and to lecture at ATTD, Florence.
The time exactly was 6:20 pm. A tall, lean African American man bumped on to me. His large trolley bag hit on my right knee and I almost fell down. My wife, out of shock forgot the surroundings and bent down to help me out. When I looked back I saw a woman passing by her and then the woman and the man disappeared instantly. Since we were getting late for the train, we went upstairs to the platform. My wife 10 minutes later opened her handbag and then with a shock realised that her wallet containing the passports, credit and debit cards and cash was missing. We were directed to go upstairs to the Italian police department. It was not an easy task. After a long wait (police were attending to other cases), we were called inside.
Police officer on duty was very kind and considerate, and prepared a very detailed FIR. He asked us to contact Indian Consulate at Milan.
We were still hoping that we will get the passport back. He said, it’s very common to have passports stolen in Italy but seldom gets it back.
I then checked my SMS and realised within 30 minutes of losing the wallet, the thieves tried using both the debit and credit cards. Fortunately lost only 28 euros.
With plenty of CCTV cameras around and exact time and location provided, isn’t it easy to catch the thieves?
Meanwhile, our friends had already reached Florence.
I called upon Dr. Banshi Saboo and informed I may not be able to make it to ATTD. He was spellbound and in utter shock.
Dr. Banshi Saboo, Dr.Rakesh Parikh, Dr.Shashank Joshi, Dr. BM Makkar, Dr.Manoj Chawla, Dr.Purvi Chawla, Dr.Amit Gupta, all of them called us and gave confidence, support and directions.
We somehow managed to stay overnight in a hotel in Milan.
Early morning I messaged our family friend and MP, Shri.Shashi Tharoor. His response was quick and powerful. Immense gratitude to SC. He immediately informed the Indian consulate in Italy and by 9:00 AM I received a call from there. Consulate General Shri.Atul Chawhan, consoled us and promised emergency passport for both of us.
This sort of robbery is very common in Italy and directions are given in the Indian Consulate of Italy website itself, he said.
We were shaken to the core and somewhere felt guilty. Probably due to repeated travels over several decades we were so careless and this is a lesson to learn from!
Upon arrival at the Consul, the officers were very courteous and offered us a warm welcome. Within an hour they provided us with two emergency passports and gave us the confidence to go back to India only after the meetings and presentations in Florence.
Dear friends let me tell you, losing the passport and money in a foreign country is very very scary and a fearful experience!
I am sharing this experience in the social media; whether you are a traveller or not, inexperienced or experienced, could be of some help.

@docbhooshan How do you define active involvement? Children, especially per-teens and Teens are reluctant to get advised by elders. How do you avoid confrontation with these mini-adults who think they are सर्वज्ञानी generation.
@docbhooshan Sometimes you feel the parents need treatment more than the kid. I think best option in present scenario is give your best advice in the most sincere manner permissible and let go of the decision making, leave it to the kid’s parents.. at least you have done your best 👍🏽
This is one of the only terracotta warriors that was found almost completely intact. Note the detail on the bottom of his shoe, showing that grip and traction were considered in footwear even 2,200 years ago.
Each life-size clay warrior was crafted to be completely unique and there are no two terracotta warriors-among the 8,000 total—that are exactly the same.
Shortly after the completion of the tomb in 210-209 BC, it was looted for weapons and burned, causing the roof to collapse, crushing the terracotta warriors. All the other terracotta warriors that are currently on display were painstakingly restored. What's even more remarkable is that the terracotta warriors were originally painted in bright colors by skilled artisans.
Unfortunately, when they were exposed to air and sunlight during the excavation in the 1970s, the colors began to curl up almost immediately and disappeared within minutes.
These terracotta warriors were put in place to guard the tomb of the first emperor of unified China—-Qin Shi Huang. To this day, the tomb has yet to be opened. According to ancient historians, the tomb contains an entire kingdom and palace in which the ceilings are decorated with pearls to mimic the night sky. The tomb is also said to contain extremely rare artifacts and has been rigged with crossbows to shoot anyone trying to break in. To keep its location a secret, the workers were entombed with the emperor.
The Han dynasty historian, Sima Qian, also mentioned that inside the tomb, "mercury was used to fashion the hundred rivers, the Yellow River and the Yangtze River, and the seas in such a way that they flowed." Modern tests have indicated extremely high levels of mercury in the surrounding soil.
The first time I met you in the Indian dressing room, you were pranked by other teammates into touching my feet. I couldn’t stop laughing that day. But soon, you touched my heart with your passion and skill. I am so happy that that young boy has grown into a ‘Virat’ player.
I couldn’t be happier that an Indian broke my record. And to do it on the biggest stage - in the World Cup Semi-final - and at my home ground is the icing on the cake.
