“We desperately need structures, tools & willingness to learn about each other, to understand each other’s perspectives, experiences & histories [] to find a shared sense of reality & perhaps even arrive at a place of admiration for one another” ~UC's DrB

Friends. If you consider yourself conservative or have voted Conservative in the past, please listen to what @JeromyYYC said this morning. (You can forward through me!) Calgary Eyeopener May 12, 2023: Nenshi and Farkas https://t.co/WP34bsvSU0
Had the opportunity to celebrate a donation for the development of a 2nd minor surgery operating room at ZLPC and hear about the impact it has had.
"Had I waited another 48 hours, I would have lost my leg. This is best place in Canada if not the world in limb preservation."
Next time someone tries arguing that it’s “social engineering” (cue ominous music) to give people CHOICES to walk, bike & take public transit, tell them that designing our current car DEPENDENCY has been the largest & most damaging social engineering experiment in human history.
$22.40 per hour is what it takes to have a modest standard of living in Calgary. It’s more than $7 per hour more than our current minimum wage, which hasn’t changed since 2018.

Roe vs Wade has been overturned.
This is an outrageous violation of human rights.
It’s happening in front of our eyes to women who are our neighbours.
Don’t tell me it won’t happen here.
Because I DON’T BELIEVE YOU.
Defend abortion rights.
😍 Beautiful! This is how we transform Downtown Calgary from a dead zone to a place people want to live and visit.
(And it’s even better for car traffic on 9th Ave and 10 Ave!!)
Three weeks ago, I had a miscarriage. I was six weeks pregnant. I live in Texas, a state that has effectively banned abortions.
A thread about what it is to cease to be pregnant in a state where abortions are banned:
Cllr McLean has asked about this cost before. He knows the answer. Fare skipping isn’t an issue on #yyctransit
The $400M to ‘make transit safer’ could be much wiser invested in housing and social investments.
But that’s not populist headline grabbing material. #yyccc
He said he’d stay away from “divisive social issues”.
He said his views had evolved.
Then came Bill 8, an attack on 2SLGBTQ+ students.
Then came Bill 207, an attack on women and trans healthcare.
Is it any wonder we don’t trust his government will protect abortion rights?
Everyone in Winnipeg losing their minds over potholes this year should remember the solution is to have more taxpayers paying for less road. It’s simple math. Opposition to infill projects like this five storey building at 490 Shaftesbury is actually support for more potholes.
"The next time affordable housing is proposed in your neighbourhood, champion the cause. The same goes for high-density zoning changes. NIMBYism is one of the biggest challenges housing providers face."
A very important piece! @HL_Morley and @BMajdell

I am deeply concerned about images, videos, and targeted threats of violence against the Muslim community in India.
The Modi govt must stop stoking anti-Muslim sentiment.
Human rights must be protected.
Canada must play a strong role in working towards peace everywhere.
