Heard from a friend working inside sports betting:
Interest in this field is spiking. Internally, the assumption is that thanks to AI, when nothing can really be trusted anymore (photos, videos, text on social media etc) one thing still is real: live sports
And ppl want real. Hence a stable but ongoing increase in interest in both sports, and sports betting...
Palestinians can't enjoy the World Cup, because when they gather together, Israel bombs them.
Then their murder will be sanitized with headlines like this⤵️ from the @NYTimes.

Jacob Neestrup (@paofc_ )
He finished second in a Champions League group, ahead of Manchester United. Then, two seasons later, he was fired after his club missed the title round for the first time in years.
Jacob Neestrup's story shows both sides of coaching a big club: the brilliant highs, and the fast, brutal fall. And it shows how little that fall really tells us about a young coach.
The homegrown man
Neestrup is FC Copenhagen through and through. He was a midfielder from their academy. His playing career was ruined by a freak ankle injury, just two minutes into his first senior game. So he turned straight to coaching in 2011, leading the under-17s to an unbeaten Danish title. After a head-coach stint elsewhere and a return as assistant, he got the top job in 2022.
His sporting director made the reason clear. He was not hired because he was a club man. He said: "Had he been at another club, he would also have been our top candidate." He earned it on merit.
The leadership, with real examples
His best leadership trait is uniting people. He was praised for getting "players and staff moving in the same direction." A coach who pulls everyone together is rare.
And his record proves the players bought in. Still in his 30s, he won two Danish league titles and two cups.
The headline was Europe: in 2023-24, his team finished second in a Champions League group with Bayern, Manchester United, and Galatasaray, then reached the last 16. He won all nine European qualifying ties he ever faced.
He even built detailed plans to shut down Barcelona and their young star Lamine Yamal. That is a leader who prepares deeply and gets his team to believe.
The collapse
The 2025-26 season fell apart. Copenhagen missed the title round for the first time in the modern era. After two early losses, Neestrup was fired in March 2026. A sharp, sudden fall after years of success.
But the market answered fast. Weeks later, Panathinaikos hired him, replacing Rafa Benítez, to lead them into Europe.
Through the hiring lens
Develop players: an academy coach to his core, with an unbeaten youth title and a clear eye for growth.
Attractive football: aggressive, possession-based, and detailed. The big European nights proved it works against the best.
Connect and unite: praised for getting players and staff pulling together.
European know-how: nine wins from nine qualifiers and a last-16 run. Rare for a young coach.
The honest note: the collapse and sacking are real. One bad season ended a great run fast. Panathinaikos is a pressured, political Greek giant — a different test. His job is to prove the peak, not the fall, is the real him.
The takeaway
Jacob Neestrup is one of the bright young coaches in Europe — a homegrown academy man who won titles and stunned Manchester United in the Champions League before his mid-30s.
The collapse is a real scar. But coaches who shine in Europe, develop talent, and play brave football do not stay defined by one bad season. Panathinaikos clearly agreed.
The peak was special. Watch whether he finds it again in Athens.

We cannot consider #AI to be morally neutral. In reality, every technical tool embodies choices and priorities through what it measures, ignores, and optimizes, and how it classifies people and situations. Ethical discernment cannot be limited to asking whether we are using a system for good or bad purposes. It must also examine how that system is designed and what vision of the human person and society is embedded in the data and models that guide it. #MagnificaHumanitas

Lazio women have been ordered to pay compensation to their former player Maja Gothberg after they were found to have unlawfully ended her time at the club due to her pregnancy.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) awarded Gothberg over €69,000 (£59,500; $78,200) after Lazio ended their employment relationship with the 28-year-old following the disclosure of her pregnancy in the summer of 2024.

Reporter: Some members of the Jewish community, including Democratic Congressman Josh Gottheimer, were alarmed by the language you used at the rally last week, calling AIPAC monsters who move dark money.
Mamdani: I want to be very clear. We’re talking about a status quo where children are being killed on a daily basis. More than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli military since the so-called ceasefire.
Even an Al Jazeera journalist, Ahmed Wishah, was killed this past Saturday by an Israeli strike. And when I am speaking about AIPAC, I’m speaking about an organization that has been supportive of the status quo, that has fought any attempt to actually deliver safety to people not just in Palestine but, frankly, throughout much of the region.
And it is a status quo of immorality. It is one that I will not accept. And when it comes to the way in which they defend the status quo, oftentimes they defend it through direct contributions, as we are seeing right now in New York 13.
Oftentimes they also support the status quo through dark money, by funneling money that would have previously come directly from AIPAC through other organizations whose contributors’ identities are only made clear after an election.
And I think it is important that when we ask ourselves how such death and destruction is happening overseas, we also name those who allow it to take place.
Bro I'm so sick of pretending this isn't weird.
