@433_CAM@xxzaber@NewsWireLK Supporter of genocidal killers and child murderers! Shame on you to condone the actions of the most brutal terrorists in the world! And on peaceful activists trying to break the decades-long siege on Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid to the starving population of Palestine.
@4mn4fn5rrr@xxzaber@NewsWireLK Oh! Islamophobia alert! Racism alert!
Does everything have to revolve around religion for you? The Global Sumud Flotilla is a peaceful mission to deliver humanitarian aid to the starving population of Palestine! Didn't know there was religion involved.
@xxzaber@NewsWireLK What an insensitive comment. I suppose you missed the videos of the abuse and torture they experienced at the hands of the most brutal human animals on this planet.
Protest at 3.30pm today to demand the release of Sri Lankan activist Sameera Mahboobdeen, illegally abducted & taken hostage. 54 boats of the flotilla, with 400+ activists from 45 countries, sailed from Turkiye carrying aid to Gaza. 40 boats intercepted, 300+ activists kidnapped
A complete visual roadmap of the sacred pilgrimage from the first steps of Ihram at the airport to the final Tawaf in Makkah.

I visited the Aragalaya commemoration that took place over the weekend. Sad that I couldn’t go with the rest of my @GoodGovYaya group, but I am glad I managed to make it. Seeing the GGY board there, our little lion, photographs, memories... alongside the wider story of the Aragalaya was poignant and emotional.
People have spent years trying to minimize it, malign it, rewrite it, or reduce it to chaos and inconvenience and try to make it seen like some ridiculous foreign backed conspiracy.
But this was not nothing.
This was a unique moment in history where ordinary people rose up against arguably the most powerful Executive Presidency this country has ever seen and forced political change.
It was not without tragedy either. Ten people lost their lives that day. Three families were compensated — the MP and two police officers. Seven others from the Aragalaya side received nothing. Those who lost homes and property compensated themselves, some fraudulently. Nearly 3,000 people still face cases and charges linked to that period, many for things that seem mundane, disproportionate. Resolving that would require political courage and a conscious national decision.
But despite all of that, the Aragalaya was also one of the most unifying and beautiful moments Sri Lanka has seen in my lifetime. I am proud that GGY carried on as long as we did... in many ways as a tribute act to what emerged at Galle Face. Proud that we kept speaking, questioning, pushing, and hopefully reaching a few minds along the way.
What disappoints me is that this government, more than any other political force, benefited from the political consciousness and mindset shift that the Aragalaya created. They went from being a 3% party to holding a two-thirds majority because the country fundamentally changed during that period but there is no viable effort from them to meaningfully join this effort to commemorate this event.
Which is why I genuinely hope that one day this will be officially recognized as a national moment of democratic awakening and commemoration... not erased, not politically sanitized, but acknowledged for what it truly was.

Congratulations to you. Children are innocent and lovable. Those 168 children that your boss killed in the school in Minab, and you justified, were also children. When you kiss your baby, think of the mothers of those children.
@ImTarkanes@RepRashida And do you actually believe this crap? These messages came out even before the interceptions took place - obviously to hoofwink people like you. Do you also believe the phony, made up charges against Thiago and Saif, two of the most beautiful human beings in the world?
I'm leading a letter to the Trump Admin about the illegal Israeli military attack on the Flotilla and the abduction of civilians, including Americans, heading to Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid. We are demanding an end to the blockade on Gaza and the release of the two remaining captives.
Very proud to have stood with @GoodGovYaya and everything we accomplished together.
The mission though is far from over.
Day 318 was the last time the group stood on our street corner and we reminded everyone of our demands as you can see in the tweet below.
This is also why it's nowhere near mission accomplished.
Aragalaya and groups like us stood on principle not for one party or other.
Until those goals are achieved, we will keep reminding whoever is in power of thier duty to the people of this country.

@LihiniFernando@EranWick It's lovely to read your post & your views are appreciated. I have huge respect for Eran & am certain he will be able to bring back glory to the game of cricket! All I'm hearing from a few SJBers is that Eran is a traitor and he has betrayed party and leader. Your post is great!
When national interest rises above party politics,
When integrity and ethics outweigh individual ambition,
That is where you find @EranWick Eran Wickramaratne.
When his own party failed to recognise his true worth,
The ruling party made the smarter call.
Credit to President AKD for choosing meritocracy over party politics, for placing the right person in the right role, rather than siding to party loyalty.
Looking at the interim committee, what stands out is balance. The industry specialists, financial minds, legal expertise, strong female representation and the leadership. I’m sure it was Eran who recommended the names.
Many would agree that some of the finest minds in our political landscape presently have spent years on the opposition benches, without the opportunity to truly govern.
So, appointments like this- at least aimed at restoring a game we all cherish is a refreshing signal, that real progress requires looking outside ones own camp and President AKD has acknowledged it with this appointment.
Wishing the interim committee led by Eran Wickramaratne the very best!
@RehanJayawick@EranWick@sjbsrilanka Invites UNP to May day rally and gets smacked down and looks pretty foolish and days later asks Eran (one of the few decent one left in that party) to resign.
Cavalcade of comedy as usual from the SJB.
This is what being on the back foot looks like.
This is what happens when a government that came in with a two thirds mandate starts reacting instead of governing.
The coal mess, the hacking incident, and a string of other failures… and now the instinct is to deflect, to dilute responsibility, to point fingers.
At some point, you have to own it.
You don't get elected with that kind of mandate to spend your time whining about the same opposition people already rejected.
We know what the opposition is… their theatrics, their noise, their bullshit doesn't move people anymore.
What people are watching now is you. We heard your promises and the rhetoric and you earned a mandate for it.
Now act like it.
