Saying South Africans are “people you cannot reason with” because of what they eat or how they live is deeply unfair and disrespectful.

I have lived among South Africans. I have had South African friends. I worked there, fed from their land, benefited from their system, and experienced genuine love and kindness from many of them. Because of that experience, I cannot join those who choose to mock or disrespect them.

One thing many people fail to understand is this: a lot of the frustration we see today comes from the feeling that their hospitality, freedom, and openness are being taken for granted. No people want to feel disrespected in their own country.

South Africans are not perfect, just like no nation is perfect, but many of them are loving people who simply want respect, order, and mutual understanding in return for the opportunities they provide.

Before criticizing them harshly, we should ask ourselves: if we were in their position, how would we feel?

Africa needs more empathy, respect, and responsibility from all sides. We cannot claim brotherhood while insulting the people who welcomed us.

Respect is reciprocal. Love should also be reciprocal.
