Today was the last day of the 2020.2021 school year. Although it was a unique year, we still were able to accomplish much learning. We said our goodbyes for the summer. The good news is there are only 89 days to the start of next school year!!! #tatankaSTEMToday
Yesterday, the kindergartners engineered solar ovens to harness the energy of the sun. They were able to successfully cook s'mores in their ovens. #tatankaSTEM
Today, we celebrated the fifth grade students learning time at Tatanka. We had a morning recognition ceremony and an afternoon party. The world will be in good hands when these young ladies and gentlemen grow into themselves! #tatankaSTEM

The Tatanka Kindergartners graduated today and have another 12, 16 or 20+ years of formal education to go, depending on their career choice. Despite the unique learning year, the students grew physically, socially and academically. Watch out world! Here they come! #tatankaSTEM
Today, Tatanka had Field Day and an all school picnic. The students had a great time in the perfect weather. Mr. Turner coordinated the day to provide us with this opportunity. I grilled 500+ hotdogs and think my retirement job may be cooking hotdogs at Portillo's. #tatankaSTEM

To encourage people to treat each other with kindness and to treat all people equally, Ms. Job's class wrote messages about kindness in chalk. #tatankaSTEM
The second grade students spent time observing the parts of each plant and identifying characteristics of the plant using their senses of sight, smell, and touch. #tatankaSTEM
The fifth grade students completed their egg drop today. Due to COVID, the students worked on their projects individually. The students identified different strategies using parachutes or a variety of packaging materials. No one method worked all the time. #tatankaSTEM

Ms. Ramsey's 3rd graders learned about pollinators, native plants, and Eric Mattson's college and career at Wright County Soil & Water Conservation! They observed turtles, insects, crayfish holes, hatched duck eggs, leech, worms, wolf spider, plants such as milkweed, & much more!
Second graders experienced chemical engineering with a virtual visit from The Works Museum. They learned about Low Viscosity and High Viscosity and created their own slime with varying degrees of viscosity. #tatankaSTEM
