The point is that this is the result you get when you isolate a country, antagonize them, instigate colored revolutions in their neighborhood, levy sanctions, etc. Backing a person or a country into a corner eventually leads to extremism.

@MartinLZinn @Snowden Not only rebuffed, but continually ridiculed, humiliated, and demonized. One doesn’t have to be a fan of Putin or support his actions to see that the US has been trash-talking and knee-capping Russia since he came to power. The US simply can’t function without an arch-enemy.

@longrally I haven’t noticed it getting worse yet, but I do miss the golden days of blogs and rss readers. Blogs about CSS and web dev were my main thing, and it felt like a community - you felt like a guest on someone’s page.

@FriedrichE49 The left’s changed in recent years, at least in the US. Chomsky concepts, like questioning wars and US/capitalist hegemony were pretty mainstream left topics, & ID was less important. Now, wars, coups, low/mid class-hostile agendas are fine as long as all the ID boxes are checked
