@TomMecredy Late to the party but -
"Historical rpg" sounds kind of like it would be historical reenactment. Based on comments I read, that's not what you're aiming for. Maybe you need to add an adjective, like "alternative history RPG"
@Juggaloopy@ZachBurrell10 It's only as gentle as the DM makes it. We're not ones to aim for TPK, but it only takes two extra melee attacks to put a PC down for good. Could be one if the player fails the save on their turn, too.
@WyrmwoodGaming If you're looking for a late holiday surprise, this is sure to please!

Also, Santa decided to tag along.
@ProDMTimothy Small combat works well with theater, like one monster and 4 PCs, but larger parties/combats feel much more manageable with a grid. It's easier to keep track of which critter has been hurt, who's in range for melee, line of sight, etc. Or when the terrain is a focus in combat.
ATTENTION: If you or anyone you know works at any kind of comic book store, pawn shop or anywhere that would buy comics in the vicinity of Ironton, OH, be on the look out for someone/s selling large amounts of comics in the next few days. My dad's storage unit was broken into...
