Why?

Colts have the 2nd worst defensive line win rate (combining run/pass) in the NFL

Eagles are amongst the league worst at run blocking from the Guard position

Nelson is on an expiring contract and Smith has just one more year left on his contract, and has yet to fully materialize as an EDGE for the Eagles

Eagles could decide to let Nelson go for a likely 3rd round comp pick or re-sign him on a cap-friendly contract

Before you sell-low on Eli Stowers…

REMEMBER:

Trey McBride was a healthy scratch WK1 as a rookie – & he had just 3 total receptions through WK9 of his rookie season.

McBride was a horrific blocker (113th out of 136 TE’s in PFF-Run Blocking Grade) – & he averaged just .84 YPRR over the course of his rookie season.

This is a position which takes time to develop – & we are chasing receiving ceiling in fantasy.

What we do know about Eli Stowers:

He is an ELITE target-earner – Stowers has the highest career TPRR (.266) out of ANY TE drafted RD1/2 in the past decade; better than McBride (.225), better than Colston Loveland (.258), better than Brock Bowers (.233).

This was not fluke production either – Stowers posted 6/113 vs Alabama in 2024 & 7/146/2 vs Texas in 2025; Stowers continually showed up against the highest-level of competition.

He is also an ELITE athlete – Stowers’ 45.5” vertical was the highest by any player at any position EVER; his 4.51 40 was also Top-10 all-time for the TE position.

& Stowers was drafted RD2 (like McBride) – which historically gives him over a 40% chance at producing *at least* one Top-12 fantasy finish.

If it matters at all to you – Stowers was also awarded the William V. Campbell award in 2025 while at Vanderbilt – which is awarded to college football’s top scholar athlete; he is one of the smartest players in the NFL.

Dallas Goedert is also 31 years old & a free agent at the end of the season.

I am urging you to keep in mind the long-term outlook here.
