@joeDmarti I hate the, "I'll give you your time back," but one of my colleagues from India worded it differently this week and I kind of loved it. She said, "Since it seems like we don't have anything else left to cover, let's give each other the gift of time."
Have you ever slept 7+ hours but still felt EXHAUSTED?
Me too.
While sleeping is physical rest,
You actually need 7 types of rest to avoid burnout
(According to Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith).
So stay at your best with these 7 types of rest:
It is super irritating when there's an internet outage in your area that isn't repaired for 6+ hours for the 2nd time in under 2 weeks. But nothing like it to make you realize just how much time you spend on devices and how reliant you are on things like Google.
Would love to share more! But for now, what's the best piece of advice you've been given in your career — pertaining to "soft skills" or interpersonal connection?
Had the chance to sit down with an intern yesterday and talk about my career path & share advice. The conversation reminded me that while the skills I was able to learn in school are fundamental to the work I do, I think the most important ones are considered "soft skills."
So here's some of the best advice I've heard in my career thus far:
- Be curious, not judgemental
- Don't underestimate the power of a thoughtful question
- Clarity is kindness
- Always assume good intent
- Be the kind of person who says, "There you are!" instead of "Here I am!"
Just sharing in case anyone out there needed evidence that my dog is the cutest in the world. Major bonus that he actually enjoys the faux hawk. 😂 Happy Friday, y'all!
