Things you tell yourself that hold you back in your fitness journey:
I’ll go to the gym when I lose the weight
I’ll be happy when I lose the weight
I’m a perfectionist
I’m an all-or-nothing person
I know what I need to do I’m just not doing it
I’m not an athlete, why bother?
Things you tell yourself that hold you back in your fitness journey:
My family doesn’t eat like I do
It won’t work for me
I’m too tired
I don’t have the genetics for it
I’ll wait until the holidays / break is over
Things you tell yourself that hold you back in your fitness journey:
I’ll do it later
I think I tracked everything
I’ll start when I feel better
I tried before, it didn’t work
I feel overwhelmed
I don’t know how
I couldn’t do that
I don’t deserve it
I’m too old
Oftentimes, (not always) it’s not the number that bothers people, it’s what that number represents.
Days, weeks, months, years of choices that, are in your mind, reflected on the scale. You’re not happy to see this. When you start doing better, impatience takes ahold. It’s hard.
One of the best things you can do is work to heal your relationship to the scale by understanding what factors affect what you’re seeing. Not avoiding it. Because then it’s this little “monster under the bed” that never goes away, even if you’re in “recovery”.
Science experiment continued…
Take it another step further & if you’re a woman, weigh yourself throughout your menstrual cycle & compare the fluctuations to those at other times of the month.

Science experiment continued…
Take it a step further & lower carbs & salt for 2 days. Weigh yourself. Then have 2 high carb, high sodium days. Weigh yourself.

Instead of avoiding the scale, may I propose an alternative?
Create a science experiment where you weigh yourself throughout the day & watch as it goes up & down as you eat, drink, sweat, use the bathroom. Weigh morning, afternoon & night.

It's only :20 l can do anything for :20
It's only 5 more lbs. I can lift 5 more.
It's only a week. I can do anything for a week.
When it comes to the path of the goals I want, this is how l reach them. THAT mindset of it's just _ I can do that. And believing it. #growthmindset
Imagine working out for months or years and not looking like it.
How you train and getting the right things dialed in is a must.
Starting with the program you follow and how you follow it…
You seeing progress is highly dependent on those things. (Time under tension, contraction, and knowing what rep/range you’re in.)
Additionally, your diet, intensity, rest/recovery, need to be dialed in as well.
Every time I work with a client in person I have to remind them to slow down, to squeeze, and oftentimes they have no idea what rep they’re on.
Unless you are actively trying to be intentional, you likely move too fast, aren’t contracting properly, or know how many reps you did.
There are many ways us coaches can help you. There are many issues, like loose skin or things out of our scope of practice, that we cannot.
Personal trainers/fitness coaches are at the forefront of healthcare. Use us and try to get into it before reaching a “crisis”.
I have witnessed many individuals ignore the early stages of unwanted weight gain & then feel completely defeated when they realize it, deal with the consequences, want to lose the weight/get healthy, & find out it may be a long, & potentially expensive journey to fix.
If you recognize that you are gaining weight + experiencing consequences from said weight gain, try your best to get ahold of it & get help if you need to.
The investment to “stop” it in the beginning will be less than once it becomes a major problem & behaviors have developed.
I’m not going to dive into topic.
What I want to say is that, we often recognize when we are putting on weight and we either stop the gain or continue. Continuing to gain excessive weight has consequences.
If it is medically, or mental health related, it is understandable!
It is very common for a client to come to us coaches wanting to fix something that happened due to weight gain, like loose skin & stretch marks.
It’s important to know that nothing we can do on our end will help with those things.
