Asheville Mayor Esther Manheimer is going alongside Governor Josh Stein to DC on Wednesday to request more funding for Helene recovery, the Mayor announced at an Explore Asheville event on Monday. @WLOS_13

@WLOS_13 @WCU One speaker was in favor of closing the WCU site. Stating that it is not a big deal for students to vote off campus. Adding that if students want to vote, they will get there. Chair Bill Thompson echoed this. @WLOS_13

@WLOS_13 Many people signed up for public comment in favor of keeping @WCU early voting location site open. A few comments include:
- 76,000 votes cast at WCU early voting site in over 9 elections
- 64% of students do not have a car on campus
- the site on campus is at no cost to county

HAPPENING NOW: Many people are gathered outside of the federal building in Downtown Asheville calling on the Trump administration to uphold the constitution. This is ahead of the Presidents’ first address to congress this evening since his return to the White House. @WLOS_13

It’s a big day for Swannanoa! The Whitson Avenue bridge that connects the north and south sides of the community is officially back open for the first time since Helene hit almost 5 months ago— a big crowd here supporting the progress made! @WLOS_13

Water is back in Burnsville! Businesses have been closed all morning due to the water system being shut off— but the town has posted on their Facebook page that the large water line break has been repaired. Water has been restored under a boil water advisory. @WLOS_13

BREAKING: HUD Secretary Adrianne Todman just announced that $1.4 billion dollars will be awarded to the state of North Carolina as well as an additional $225 million dollars to the City of Asheville. @WLOS_13

Today we followed Governor Elect Josh Stein around as he visited businesses in Downtown Asheville. This visit was meant to encourage visitors to be a part of the comeback. Stein says that businesses aren’t only open for business, they’re desperate for business @WLOS_13
