Turning Points Magazine is the product of when Indigenous creatives have the institutional support to share accurate, heartfelt stories of higher education journeys, Indigenous identities & most importantly, HOME 🖤
Taking charge of the Indigenous narrative ✨
Land acknowledgements feel diluted if folks are just reading off of a generic script and have the audacity to mispronounce the tribal nation’s name in doing so. 🚩🚩🚩
Life update: my best friend of 14 years and I said “I do” and had our wedding reception in St. Michaels, AZ, where I grew up. It was nizhóní.
Shoutout to T&R Market for baking this DELICIOUS cake. 💯
Another shoutout for my son’s No Face shirt. #mood
All of my plans have been canceled since Tears of the Kingdom came out. I shall emerge when summer is over… maybe. 🧚♂️🪲🌿

Sweet gifts from my partner and our yazh for Mother’s Day. New treasure added to the record collection. Lovely plants. And Legend of Zelda hand puppets that crack me up. 🖤
Now onto some more exploring on Tears of the Kingdom. 🎮

Big news for the boss man. 🥹 ‘Ahxéhee’ for all that you have done and advocated for here at ASU @BryanBrayboy. Wouldn’t have found my belonging if it weren’t for you.
We're thrilled to announce that @BryanBrayboy of @ASU has been named dean of the @NorthwesternU School of Education and Social Policy, effective June 1. https://t.co/d0afHzw4mO. #SESPLove
Want to go home for a nap but forgot I paid for parking at ASU. 😑 Guess I’m stuck here til 11:59 p.m. The cost of parking is no joke here.
… I think this calls for a cot in my office. (Don’t read this, Dr. Brayboy.)
My partner and I stocked up on dog food/treats & fed rez pubbies we came across in Window Rock, Fort Defiance, Hunter’s Point & Chinle. While all of them were very cute, my grandma’s dog was perhaps the most photogenic. 📸🐶🤎
The moment I start reading a book, I get sleepy. Whoever has my voodoo doll, stop it.
My new reads for this week are:
📖✨ “Elements of Indigenous Style” by Gregory Younging
📖✨ “A Carnival of Snackery: Diaries (2004-2020)” by David Sedaris
Two editors — one for @ASUTurningPoint and the other @jaie_asu — enjoying Sparky’s company at the @ASU Employee Appreciation BBQ. I learned a little bit about sports today, thanks Justin! #ForksUp ☀️😈🔱
