BIGOTRY IS POISONING OUR PROGRESS - ENOUGH.

First of all, I holheartedly celebrate every genuine effort to uplift our children through merit and excellence. (@winexviv) Alex Onyia’s South East Maths Olympiad is a shining example: transparent, live-streamed, open to residents of our region, and now sending deserving young talents to Rome on private sponsorship. This is the kind of initiative we need more of across Nigeria. Hard work rewarded - no excuses.

At the same time, let us not descend into the very tribal bigotry we claim to fight. Dr. Dipo Awójídé has a long record of education and career development work across states, including the South East. Disagreement on politics or a space discussion, even though I see absolutely nothing wrong with what he was saying in that space, should not automatically brand a man a hater or enemy of progress. We cannot police every voice or turn every educational conversation into ethnic warfare.

Come on, guys, must we turn every dim thing into a bigotry Olympics? What kind of society are we building as a people with this kind of mindset? Shouldn't our focus be on uplifting individuals like Alex Onyia's Maths Olympiad and STEM initiative in Rome and everything that guy has been doing for our children as private individuals?

Dr. Dipo, for more than ten years, has been touring across Nigeria, teaching through his MSME Masterclass with Dipo and Career Masterclass with Dipo, helping hundreds of people get into tech and management consulting, and even getting invited by state governments to contribute to development. And @Tunde_OD, who has been quietly transforming lives through chess in the slums without anybody turning it into a tribal war?

Why must we always reach for bigotry when real success is staring us in the face? Why do we need to question the tribe or the politics of a man who is simply doing good work for children instead of just clapping for the achievement and asking how we can replicate it everywhere?

Why does a private citizen using his own resources to give our young ones international exposure suddenly become a target for division instead of a model to study and improve upon?

What exactly do we gain as a people when we keep dragging education initiatives into these endless ethnic fights instead of focusing on how to get more children educated and exposed? Is this the legacy we want to leave, where every good thing done by one group must be attacked by another simply because of where they come from or who they support politically?

Must we always find a way to poison progress with suspicion? Why can't we just celebrate the fact that Nigerian children from the South East are representing us in Rome right now through sheer merit and private initiative, while at the same time acknowledging that people like Dr. @OgbeniDipo have also spent years traveling the length and breadth of this country, empowering young people without turning it into a competition of who is more tribal?

What is the point of all this energy spent on outrage when that same energy could be used to start similar programs in other regions so that more children benefit? Are we really building a future for our kids, or are we just training them to see everything through the narrow lens of tribe and politics?

I ask again, why do we need this level of bitterness towards success? Why must every positive story be met with accusations instead of questions on how to scale it? Why can't we, as a people, just focus on the children who are winning and the individuals who are making it happen instead of always looking for someone to drag down?

What kind of example are we setting when private citizens step up to do what governments have failed to do for years, and instead of gratitude, we respond with division? Is there really any need for this bigotry in the first place when the work itself is speaking louder than any narrative?
