My vote for the western site for NCAA opening round (six games): Salt Lake City.
Good logistics, good bb state, history of hosting. But Utah would need help - responsibility can't be left to the local school

Objectively, how do you defend this:
Miami (10–2)
– ESPN SOS: 45
– ESPN SOR: 14
– Did not play for a conference championship
– Losses: Two 8–4 teams (SMU, Louisville)
BYU (11–2)
– ESPN SOS: 22
– ESPN SOR: 9
– Played in the Big 12 championship
– Losses: No. 4 Texas Tech on the road & in the Big 12 title game
Notre Dame (10–2)
– ESPN SOS: 44
– ESPN SOR: 13
– Did not play for a conference championship
– Losses: Miami (who lost to two 8–4 teams) & No. 7 Texas A&M
The Pop-Tarts Bowl features the sacrifice of a beloved figure, who is reborn anew as someone who is ceremonially consumed in celebration.
This is literally the central narrative of the crucifixion, resurrection, and communion. How could ND say no?!!
@RossDellenger Only if the committee wants them, on the fringe they can make up any old reason or metric to insert a team in front of them so they end up 13 and just miss again
Expanding the field to 16 teams really puts the pressure on the CFP Committee to come up with more creative, esoteric ways to exclude the deserving teams outside the P2.
But I have complete confidence that they will rise to the occasion.
Biggest problem was that BYU was only #11 heading into championship weekend. They only dropped to #12 after the Big 12 champ game loss.
If they had been properly ranked heading in, and dropped two spots, they still would have been in.
They were 11-1, only loss at that point was on the road to top 5 team. Terrible ranking by the committee.
A simple question for everybody yelling that Notre Dame should join a conference and it won't get "screwed" or whatever.
BYU joined a conference. Did that save it?
Good morning to everyone!!
(except those who think an 11-1 team playing for a conference championship while others sit at home shouldn’t be in the College Football Playoff)
When you compare full body of work for BYU and Miami it should be no question who gets in.
Better record? BYU
Better SOS? BYU
Tougher Conference? BYU
Better losses? BYU
More ranked wins? BYU
Better SOR? BYU
Made conf title game? BYU
Miami deserved to be ahead of ND, but not BYU
