What is a “Roman Moment”. In Rome’s history, there was a time - a moment - where they had two paths to take. They chose wrong, we can learn and choose better.
@InterstellarUAP There are no UFO’s, this surge in UFO activity is a distraction from Epstein, the Iran War, Israel’s control of the US government, inflation, AI’s coming impact, and systemic government corruption.
My mother-in-law is 92 and still a feisty tiger. I’ve known her for 37 years and have never seen her drink anything other than coffee, wine, or bourbon. I’ve never seen her drink water and she says she doesn’t. She’s had 2 drinks per evening religiously for decades. Sharp as a tack, great energy, not a thing wrong with her. Rarely gets sick.
While I understand the societal cost of alcohol in terms of its destruction, I think there are more pressing problems for personal health. Seed oils, plastics in our body, chemicals, deteriorating health care, inactive lifestyles, decriminalized drugs, and junk food to name a few.
If you’re not an alcoholic, some of the best moments in life are having a beer with good friends or sharing a bottle of wine with the person you love. Like all things in life, moderation is the key.
Just sayin’.
I voted for Karen Bass because I like free things. And I like to do drugs. And she’s for reparations. And I’m involved in fraudulent activities and Bass doesn’t seem to worry about that. And rich people owe me.
So, I voted for her, at least three or four times, some NGO gave me names to use but I think those people are dead or in nursing homes. Doesn’t matter, Karen Bass needs to win so that LA can stay the same as it has been……
(Dear FBI, this is sarcasm).
@SpotterFitness1@EricSpracklen We have and I’m a retired semiconductor guy so I get a kick out of driving by the TSMC fab. Spent some time at Blackstone and it’s a beautiful CC, looking forward to playing the course.
@theoldmaster19@EricSpracklen I have never done that, not once. And I’ve voted in every election since I turned 18 in 1983.
BTW, the GOP isn’t exactly crushing it for us right now are they?
I’m in Texas all of the time and I’m the type of Californian you all might want. Lived on a farm, can ride, can rope, can farm, pro 2a, love the blues, love meat, always vote red, guitar player, don’t do drugs, love my beer, and vote red. If you’re going to have neighbors, you could do worse……
Oh, and my daughter and sister already live near Austin and they’re very similar to me.
@willyraye119@EricSpracklen I used to work for Skywest many years ago so spent some time in St. George. Great town but we’re not doing cold anymore, we lived in CO and other cold places and we’re done, we love the sun. Thanks for the tip.
I hear ya. We lived in CA until 2000 then escaped. Had to come back 3 years ago to help some family. I love the state, it’s absolutely fantastic and beautiful but it’s “led” by morons in Sacramento. This should be a cautionary tale about one-party rule in a state, every blue state drives itself off the cliff.
I’d like to point out that there are a lot of Conservatives in CA. In fact, the Central Valley (where I live) probably has more Conservatives than most states have in total population. We just can’t overcome the “free stuff” brigades in SoCal and the Bay Area. What a shame.
@ana_salemanca@EricSpracklen Thanks for the tip. We used to live near Raleigh, NC and spent a lot of time in SC so I know it well. Our kids are on the West Coast so we’re here for a while. Hilton Head and Charleston are beautiful.
It amazes me that you can buy a home for $300k, have it appreciate on paper to $800k and so the government reassesses your property taxes, which are very high in TX, based on a new assessment and thus you pay for unrealized capital gains every year. It terrible. California does some nutty stuff but prop 13 was absolutely correct.
Fundamentally I agree, I don’t think the government should be telling people what they can and can’t do with an investment. I use VRBO regularly and it has always beat a Marriott. I listed it because it contributes to the issue but the other points are worse. I don’t have good data but my gut tells me the fraud issue is bigger than I think it is.
@John_Norman76@EricSpracklen Agree but there are more Conservatives in CA than most states have in total population, and they want out of CA. If we come to AZ or TX we come as pro 1A, pro 2A, and pro limited government. You’ll be shade redder if I’m there, guaranteed.
You’d be surprised to hear that I used to live in Fuquay-Varina (Crooked Creek), your next door neighbor. We loved the area and, of course, you know the the old saying about Cary being the “containment area for relocated yankees”. Things may have changed, but people moving to Cary and HS used to be folks from New York and New Jersey wanting to escape liberal idiocy in their home state. Then they moved to NC and didn’t leave their politics behind with them, now NC is a purpose state when it was reliably red.
I love NC and would love to settle near the Outer Banks but our kids are on the West Coast, at least for the time being.
