Also, am loving how history fits together in #Franklin. Had a great visit to @SconePalace earlier this month and it’s wonderful to see the depiction of Lord Stormont’s time at Versailles
While I’m enjoying #Franklin on @AppleTV, I’ve realized my love of #AmRev history may spoil the inevitable “ah ha” moment coming. Worth it if it means others will gain appreciation for Beaumarchais, Lafayette, etc., at long last!
#OTD in 1776, under the cover of night, Washington and his troops crossed the #DelawareRiver to capture the Hessian garrison at Trenton. The dramatic event was memorialized 75 years later in a painting by German-born American artist Emanuel Leutze.
It’s the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party! On my recent trip to Williamsburg, I met a printer who shared a song written soon after the event and he just happened to be printing the page announcing details of the Tea Act - what luck!
Thrilled to find myself in great company - thank you, Ben! The broader group of BostonStudiers is a generous bunch from whom I’ve learned so much! Happy 250th!
Did you know the #BostonTeaParty is directly linked to the history of Bengal? It's all about Empire, the East India Company, and economics. Learn how in my talk, part of the official #BostonTeaParty250 festivities #spillthetea#tea1773

#OnThisDay, 250 years ago, protestors boarded ships carrying tea by the East India Company and threw the crates overboard.. Known as the Boston Tea Party, this was a major event that accelerated colonial support that would lead towards a revolution.

#OTD in 1773, during the #BostonTeaParty, Patriots dumped 340 tea chests off British ships so they couldn't be unloaded or taxed. This protest against unjust taxation, #JohnAdams said, would have “so important Consequences…that I cannot but consider it as an Epocha in #History.”
