Tonight, Congress will vote to lower the age to prosecute minors as adults from 16 down to 14 in DC.

Let me get this straight:

Congress wants to prosecute 14 yr. olds as adults, but they don’t want to prosecute adults who sexually abuse 14 year olds?

@JamesTate121 Agree, but it is more than just women. There are men who have taken their partners name. My son & his wife hyphanted with both, & his male friend took his husband's name. My nieces husband took her last name. Just like me, their Birth Certificates will not match their ID.

You would be forced to get a passport before you could vote because the name on your birth certificate would not match your ID. Not a problem for most men.

January 24, 2026:

Today, Veterans For Responsible Leadership mourns the killing of Alex Pretti, a Minnesota resident, U.S. citizen, and healthcare professional who served veterans through his work as a nurse with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Mr. Pretti dedicated his life to caring for others — including those who once wore this nation’s uniform — and his death at the hands of federal immigration agents is a tragedy that should never have occurred.

This incident highlights a deeply disturbing trend: the misuse of ICE agents as a de-facto paramilitary or secret police force operating inside American communities. These agents are being deployed without sufficient training, transparency, or coordination with local authorities, creating fear rather than safety. It is a betrayal of American values and constitutional norms.

We understand the anger and grief this has sparked in Minnesota and beyond. Those emotions are real and justified. But we urge calm. Violence and chaos only deepen the harm. The path forward is peaceful protest, civic action, and sustained public pressure — the very tools that have strengthened this democracy for generations.

We call on Americans to contact their Members of Congress and demand accountability, oversight, and immediate reform of federal enforcement practices that endanger civilian lives. Federal power must never be used to terrorize the people it exists to serve.

As veterans, we swore an oath to defend the Constitution — not a political agenda, not fear, and not unchecked authority. We honor Alex Pretti’s service by demanding a country worthy of it.

On I- 84, heading into downtown Portland, someone has painted in VERY large letters "YOUR SILENCE WON'T SAVE YOU!" After driving past, I couldn't get the 1946 poem "First they Came" out of my head. History has shown what happens in silence. Let's not repeat it. #firsttheycame

@Mr_Husky1 You should trust your opinion. My son was married in Oct. & their photographer posted photos on her social media . So many comments about her dress... some loved it, and others absolutely hated it! But she loved it & it made her feel beautiful on HER day. That's what counts!

@HorejsKathleen @highbrow_nobrow That was the only way we knew that our dad was taken to the ER. They ran his debit card for the fee, & it alerted my sister. He was bleeding out with no memory of going there, but they ran his card. His tenant sent him with his wallet in the ambulance. Sept. in OR.

@atrupar I was at a charity event all day Saturday, downtown Portland... the only problem was finding a place to park. Everyone was calm. Everyone was polite. People were stopping by asking us what the event was for when we had the doors open. I am so tired of the lies!
