STEAM: K2 students brainstormed, planned & created a paint brush, then they tested them by creating self portraits to honor Frida Kahlo! 3rd-5th grade students brainstormed, planned & designed soccer stadiums!! Pele, the Brazilian soccer player, has got nothing on my cheetahs!

After reading a novel, Mrs. Theodore challenged her 4th grade students to create text-based board games for their peers! Students were given creative freedom as long as it was evident that the board game was based on the text! Future game developers are amongst us!!

Ms. Mack’s students created sensory slime! Through an adapted learning approach students sequenced illustrated steps on a recipe chart before mixing. Between the beads, the glitter and the many textures - this activity was a sensory explosion!

Ms. Kendrick’s ESOL students were thrilled about the opportunity 2 share their culture with other students! Students celebrated Hispanic heritage month by wearing traditional attire! Countries represented included: Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico.

Ms. Doty brings the book, Clifford's First Autumn to life for her students. Students not only listened to the book and looked at the pictures, they also experienced the book as Ms. Doty infused different interactive engagement opportunities into her lesson.

Imagine their excitement when Mrs. Lawrence pulled out the POP-it! Students were required to say the word, spell the word, write the word, then pop the word. This multi-sensory approach to learning is sure to make reading and sounding our words a permanent practice!

Seismologists in Mr. Alford's class put their seismographs to the test! Students created their very own seismographs and simulated table top earthquakes which produced seismograms! This activity brought the entire unit to life!!

Mrs. Vaughn is learning to use a new system that will assist students with communicating their wants, needs and even their understanding of stories and math problems. I am excited to see how this resource will transform learning for our students! This is take 2!

STEAM Challenge 1: Floating Foil Boats. We put our critical thinking skills into action! We had to think about the impact of weight on the buoyancy of boats as we designed a boat to hold the most glass marbles! Winners announced on Monday!

Stingrays Strong in Standards!! Today we utilized the Illuminate platform to explore DOK levels for our standards. We were able to see questions for each DOK level and determine the rigor needed to meet the DOK level of the standards!
