We rely on our colleagues to triangulate our blind-spots. Thank you, @emilymeadowsorg , for highlighting that "*preferred* pronouns" suggests optionality (as opposed to an undeniable true-ness to identity), so "gender-affirming pronouns" is what we need. Infographic improved!
In this post, I explore concepts like hyperfocus, flow, distraction, and rumination, how they relate to each other, and how to find a balance between them. https://t.co/2IuC2OiPqb
One thing many autistics frequently do is use a conversation style called cooperative overlap. You might call it an enthusiastic (autistic) way of interrupting! https://t.co/mGXzzAueVP
Class trip to Ninja Warrior today and then just about to tuck in most of our primary learners for their first sleepover. Will we get any sleep? Who knows...? #lotc#teacherlife
This in-between time between Christmas and New Years can feel a bit... odd canโt it? The days might blur, and regular routines can slip.
But one thing that wonโt change: weโre here if you need to talk, 24/7, whatever the day, whatever the time. ๐
@ralston_h @RiseSchoolUK @SeemaMalhotra1 Each day had a slide which went to forms to do in form time/CR and then they had a Google form to fill in with their individual votes and any salient points they could come up with; each day they got the last day's results too and I put them up in the hall.
If everyone was a little autisticโฆ
I would not need any accommodations,
as the world would be made for me.

What things do you think would be different if the world would actually consider our wants and needs?

Today is #BudgetDay 2024! To mark this important day in Parliament's calendar, here is a short thread on the history and traditions of the UK's annual Budget. ๐ท๐งต(1/10)
- There is a caveat for flexibility, but this is quite hidden and is unlikely to be at the forefront when schools are afraid (which is typical in practice) of being accused of breaking the guidance.
Please respond to this consultation.
Points I took away: ๐งต
- "Age limit" is very different to guidance on when something should be introduced
- This is not just gender; discussion of suicide, FGM, online safety, and other topics are well above age of emergence
Consultation on the new RSHE draft guidance is now open to consultation.
Nothing has changed as yet, but when the final version of the guidance is introduced it will be statutory and schools will be expected to follow it.

- This suggests a culture of silence rather than a culture of safeguarding students with education. How can students open up to teachers who are told students are not old enough to teach them about issues they face?
