Not all your students come to class wanting to learn… but they all come wanting to belong. And when they feel like they belong… they’re much more likely to learn.
@PresidentPat@ASCD No, thank you! It was exactly the level of vulnerability we need to be asking our new teachers (and those that support them) to show!
.@PresidentPat just fired up my day with a call to action to support new teachers and their authentic stories, as we ask them to model the world we want to create for our students. Thank you, @ASCD. That changed my day.
Wanna start an argument in your class? Ask them to choose and defend their answer to whether this scenario is fair BEFORE doing any calculations.

Your S's don't need people to "keep it real" with them. Their life is real enough. They need people who encourage them to recognize their own curiosity.
Key takeaway from #FCTM2021:

Just a consideration: The hearing on FL's Executive Order forcing schools to reopen brick & mortar is being conducted on Zoom. So the court can decide it's not safe to meet in a courtroom, but schools can't decide it's not safe to open the building.

Can't resist. (This is nuts...)
Wish some of my Tweets about keeping school buildings closed during a pandemic got this kind of response...
