Closing out the classroom this year looks a lot different than last year when all I had to do was close down Zoom. Tons of great memories with the best of the best group of kids!
Students have been exceptionally curious about the conflict in Ukraine so I found an article for us to read that helped us understand the why. They had amazing discussion & then we wrote words of encouragement for a sunflower garden bulletin board ๐ป๐บ๐ฆ
Red Oak Nature Center came to present about animal adaptations. Owl pellets were dissected & scat was sculpted into herbivore, carnivore, and omnivore shapes (using a mush of oatmeal, cocoa, & water).
Much egg-citement over the equations egg hunt today! 1/2 had an equation and they had to find the other 1/2 that had the corresponding answer ๐ฅ It was practice for multiplication, place value, and ways to add to 100.
A fractions scoot. There was a fraction to decipher on each desk & they had 20 seconds to write their answer before moving to the next question. Kids who first thought 20 seconds was too fast, picked up speed after about 3 rotations & even started dancing to the timer music!
Student: How many days do we have left of school?
Me: 29 & I'm really sad because I'll miss all of you ๐ฅบ๐
Student: Well, we'll just have to make the best of the days we have left!
Me: ๐ฏ๐ญ
