π You may remember Alejandra DΓaz, one of our passionate Global Educators who recently received the Teacher of the Year award at her school in Durham Public Schools. We asked her why teaching is important to her. π
Inspired by her momβs dedication to teaching and her dadβs heart for helping others, Alejandra brings warmth, purpose, and cultural pride to her students every day. Teaching in the U.S. has been a dream come true, not just to grow as an educator, but to bring her culture to life in the classroom.
From building bonds with kindergartners to championing dual language education, Alejandra is proud to create a space where students feel seen, supported, and empowered.
"The sky's the limit" isn't just something she says, it's something she helps her students believe. Keep an eye on our Educator Spotlight page on our website for the full story! ππ³ #educatetheworld #teachers #teacherappreciationweek #Honduras

π Global Educators are Passionate! π
Day is the final day of teacher appreciation week! Our randomly selected Passionate educator is Lilibeth Niebles! π Lilibeth is an elementary educator from Colombia π¨π΄ in Hertford County Public Schools. Here is what she had to say about passion:
"Iβm a passionate ML lead teacher because I truly love watching my students grow, not just in their language skills, but in their confidence and sense of belonging. There's something incredibly special about seeing my students light up when they finally understand something theyβve been working so hard on, or when they find the courage to speak up in class for the first time.
Iβve always believed that language opens doors, and helping open those doors for my students rather than just a job, itβs my joy. Every 'aha' moment is my most precious reward."
We appreciate you Lilibeth! π

π¨ Global Educators are Creative! π¨
Day four of teacher appreciation week! Our randomly selected Creative educator is Jemilee Rose-Garvey! π Jemilee is a 5th grade educator from Jamaica π―π² in ECPPS. Here is what she had to say about creativity:
"During my time teaching in the United States, I displayed creativity by redesigning a lesson plan to better engage my students in learning vocabulary. Instead of the usual worksheet or textbook activities, I turned the lesson into a classroom βescape room.β I created puzzles and clues that required students to use new vocabulary words in context to unlock the next stage of the game.
Students worked in teams, collaborated, and practiced their language skills in a fun and dynamic way. Not only did this approach help reinforce their understanding, but it also encouraged participation from even the more reserved students. It was rewarding to see how a creative twist on a routine lesson could transform the classroom atmosphere and deepen learning."
We appreciate you Jemilee! π #teacherappreciationweek #educatetheworld #CelebrateTeachers #ThankYouTeachers #teachersofinspiration #TeachingChampions #PowerOfTeachers #creative
π Global Educators are Adventurous! π
Today day three of teacher appreciation week! Our randomly selected Adventurous educator is Veronica Ford! π Veronica is a Middle School educator from Jamaica π―π² in Hertford County Public Schools. Here is what she had to say about adventure:
"An adventurous moment during my time in the United States came when I took the initiative to design an inclusive literacy program tailored for my students with special needs. Many of them had struggled with traditional reading methods, and I knew a new approach was needed.
I created a multi-sensory learning experience that incorporated movement, music, tactile materials, and technology. We built βreading stationsβ where students could engage with stories by acting them out, using audio books with visual cues, and even crafting their own books with adaptive tools. It was a bold shift from the usual structure, but I trusted my instincts and leaned into creativity.
Watching my students grow in confidence and literacy skills through this approach was incredibly rewarding. It reminded me that being adventurous in special education means being willing to break molds, try new strategies, and believe in possibilities others might overlook."
We appreciate you Veronica! π
