Here are 7 out-of-hospital patients that were all in cardiac arrest (yellow bar) who then achieved ROSC (purple bar)....but then all rearrested (yellow bar).
What was the common theme?
All of these patients were hypotensive, a condition that was not addressed fast enough in the post-ROSC period.
The data shows that the rearrests occurred within 2-9 minutes of ROSC.
What was done to correct this?
They made a protocol change that allowed early fluid boluses and pressors (push dose epi) - without the need to call medical control.
The results?
▪The re-arrest rate dropped from 50% to less than 20%
This shows the power of using data in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and it highlights the amazing work of Adam Perrett and Mike Humphrey at Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services in Canada.

People think what separates “experts” from everyone else is how much the experts know.
But I think what really makes you an expert is having an understanding of how much you *don’t* know.
The best experts also understand how much is not yet known by *anyone at all*.
Fall in love with some activity, and do it! Nobody ever figures out what life is all about, and it doesn't matter. Explore the world. Nearly everything is really interesting if you go into it deeply enough. Work as hard and as much as you want to on the things you like to do the best. Don't think about what you want to be, but what you want to do. Keep up some kind of a minimum with other things so that society doesn't stop you from doing anything at all.
These are my teammates. We are Olympic champions. Three of us tried to give birth. Two of us experienced near-death complications. One of us died. We have to, and we will do more. Tori’s death cannot and will not be in vain.

When I think about the hustle so many nontraditional and/or underserved students endure, it reminds me that we need to make education more affordable, make rent more affordable, and widen our safety nets. Getting in isn’t enough. We need to make sure all students are thriving.
Black patients with long bone fractures were substantially less likely to receive analgesics by #EMS. Explained by differences in transport time? Nope. Differences in socioeconomic status? Nope. Pain severity? Nope. Refusal? Nope. And the list goes on. https://t.co/GCiN0oCnU6
You have no responsibility to live up to what other people think you ought to accomplish. I have no responsibility to be like they expect me to be. It's their mistake, not my failing.

Educate yourself about things. Study hard what interests you the most. Don't worry about what others think of you, that's none of your business. Train your mind to think, doubt, and question. That's how you grow. 🧠
