Many of our teachers complain about staff meetings and how 'that could have been an email.' What would you recommend happens during meetings to make it more worthwhile for teachers?

Dear NS,
Sounds like you need admin to step in here. Forward all emails to admin to request their response. When there is a pop in, politely explain that you have mtg (lie if you need to) and ask them to reach out to admin for the question.

This is a tough one. Many schools have monitoring software, which isn’t the ideal solution, IMO. Can you sit behind the sts so they don’t know when/whose screen you’re observing? Are there some activities that can be done “old school” sans tech?

Unfortunately (for her sts) you cannot change your colleague. She will have to learn to give out trust in small doses. Drop hints like, “I asked Moe and Larry to deliver the boxes to the front desk. It’s so convenient to ask sts to run errands.”

Dear TOALC, I am not a fan of gimmicks either, esp for older sts. Saying “I’ll wait” wastes time and makes you look like a tool. Maybe try “if someone next to you is talking, pls look at them.” Let me know if this works for your class.
