Week 1 down! It was crazy and good all wrapped in one and so exciting to see the ways that everyone is working their hardest to keep these kids in the building to learn! Our mutual goal right now in this collaboration is making teaching in person possible!!

Reading aloud is the one thing, above all else, that brings a class together and builds a sense of community. That's what our children will need this term, every single day. The stories, the cliffhangers, the discussions, the predictions, the sharing...all absolutely essential.

In a meeting with my supervisor this week, I was asked about how my ELA block looks. After giving my answer of really crazy, she gave me a resource to help me improve my practice and help my students! Excited to keep learning to do better for these kids! #ledu512

This week I went to a training for a science kit that I will be using in my classroom! The resources were so awesome and it was great to see all of the connections to ELA and Math and even social studies! I am excited to use these resources and help my students to grow!

My #weeklyhighlight was on Friday during writing. S’s were working on various tasks and we were able to keep them all engaged and their work turned out beautiful! A 5 sentence paragraph using an inference, 3 detailed sentences, and a sentence about why the S is special! #ledu512

As the first quarter of my first year teaching comes to an end, it is amazing the support and kindness I have received from everyone in my district. I am so thankful for the experiences that I have had and for the opportunities to grow in these first ten weeks! @4ruralvoices

Today I had my students participate in a @breakoutEDU activity and my kids loved it! It was so great to hear them dialogue and problem solve to find the solutions to the problems and I hope to bring more of these interactions into my classroom in the future! @4ruralvoices

This week I had the opportunity to participate in my first CSE meeting and it was great! Collaborating with the parent and the service providers to help this one student have the best school experience was such a blessing and I am excited to put the plan in action! @4ruralvoices

This week was a tough week but it was nice to take a walk and look at the beautiful place I get to call home! Reflecting on what went well and what I can improve on to make next week run more smoothly was much more relaxing while looking at this beautiful view!

When creating a curriculum map using the common core standards, I needed a way to show growth, even if they were not necessarily teaching the exact goal of the standard! I was told about the linkage levels and am excited to use these to help show my student’s growth this year!

This week I started reading Esperanza Rising with some of my students and it has been a great adventure of talking about the history of where the story takes place! I am excited to continue having productive and challenging conversations with these students!

I had the opportunity to go to a new teacher training this week and I am so excited to continue learning from this new community we have created! Collaboration does not have to be just within your school, it should include educators outside as well!

Human rights can be a hard topic to talk about with students, but playing games to solidify knowledge is always a fun way to reinforce these hard conversations! Thankful for the game “Do I have a Right?” this week and for my students enthusiasm to try new things! @4ruralvoices
