We’ve got Minnesotans saying they need a side hustle to pay their primary bills while the state continues to sit on a $18.5 billion dollar surplus. The solution is clear - return their hard earned income & reduce taxes across the board so that they can provide for their families.

Eliminating the tax on social security to help our seniors should have been passed already. Instead, that promise is being walked back and there’s a proposal to borrow $1.5 billion dollars and spend millions in interest rather than refunding any of the $18.5 billion surplus.

The message from parents & teachers is clear - kids all across Minnesota need help learning to read. We must prioritize the literacy needs of our students & get our teachers & schools the resources & training they’ve requested so that our kids can catch up & succeed academically.

The legislature exists to give voice to the people. They elect and work with their school boards at the local level and with their legislators at the state level to provide input regarding their kids and schools. Their ability to do so should never be stricken from the law.

More pathways to becoming or remaining a teacher is good for Minnesota, our kids, and schools. Removing existing pathways will eliminate experienced teachers and add to our shortage in classrooms. Let’s keep the great ones we have while building our pipeline of future educators.

#PSEO continues to be an amazing educational opportunity for Minnesota high school students. It saves families money, allows students to earn college credit, and get a head start regarding their higher education. We should be expanding PSEO opportunities, not taking them away.

We must have accurate information regarding teacher shortages in our classrooms across Minnesota so that we can help our districts meet the needs of our schools and kids. It will also help us build the pipeline of future teachers in the areas where we have critical shortages.

In the midst of a teacher shortage, our educators keep asking for less curriculum mandates so they can focus on helping our kids with reading, writing, math, science, & other traditional academic instruction that will help them catch up and succeed. Put our kids & teachers first.

This would have been relevant news coverage 2 months ago when we repeatedly warned Minnesotans about the far-reaching implications of what was being proposed in the legislature. Remember - nothing was supposed to change, they were simply “codifying” what was already law………….

Nearly two months into session with an $18 Billion Dollar surplus and still no tax relief for hard working Minnesota families, no elimination of the tax on social security for our seniors, and no refunds to folks who could put that money to work providing for their loved ones.
