It takes enormous personal courage to run for office and ask people to participate in your vision for the future. One of the reasons we started Team Jamie For Oregon was to support that kind of leadership, especially when it involves the courage to suggest positive change. #orpol

The Tigard high school student section has more than a few messages for Newberg before tonight’s football game.
Fans and staff throughout the stadium wearing BLM and Pride gear as well. #opreps
"I have firsthand experience of the difference that diligent expressions of support can make," Midas Jenkins, a student at Newberg's Catalyst School who identifies as transgender, said. "I am not political. I am human." https://t.co/PCbxiVH9zm
BREAKING: A staff member at Mabel Rush elementary school in Newberg showed up to work in Blackface on Friday, allegedly saying she was dressed as Rosa Parks and protesting a vaccine mandate for teachers.
Statement from @NewbergSchools on the latest racist incident:
Vernonia has been hit hard by COVID-19. A city councilor & pastor died from COVID-19, the rural fire department is in turmoil, and school had to delay starting because the councilor who died is also a school bus driver, and his illness forced fellow bus drivers into quarantine.
There has never been a Corvallis school named after a woman. Now, three elementary schools previously named after US presidents will be named after Black and Indigenous women of history https://t.co/EwbRQNwDqi
September 13 (Monday) is the last day to submit testimony to help determine how you will be represented in #orleg and in Congress. Make sure your voice shapes Oregon's new maps! (Info on how to testify in link.) #redistricting#orpol#orleg https://t.co/OKmeLtdN0A
#Redistricting testimony from Jaylyn Suppah, member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs:
"Acknowledging our ceded land area is important for all of you to understand how this plays a critical role in district lines and our community of interest areas..." #orpol#orleg
Today, I submitted virtual and written testimony to Oregon's #redistricting committee. #orpol#orleg
"The drawing of political boundaries can either further divide us or set the stage to elect leaders charged with understanding and helping us achieve our common purpose."
At the Warm Spring Back-to-School BBQ, I got to see Jaylyn Suppah doing what she does so well — educating folks on important issues. In this case: #redistricting!
Also a shout-out to Sue Matters with @KWSO!
BREAKING: The Newberg School Board has REFUSED to rescind a motion it passed earlier in the summer which made masks optional for Newberg students.
This creates a potential loophole for parents despite a state mandate & may run counter to the Governor's mandate for K-12 schools.
Tonight, Newberg School Board chair Dave Brown plans to assign 3 board members to a committee on equity & anti-racism: Brian Shannon, Trevor DeHart, & Renee Powell.
All 3 voted to ban BLM/Pride symbols. Ines Peña, the only P.O.C. on the board, is not included on this committee.
As students, teachers, and staff return to school, they should feel welcome and included - that they belong. That is exactly what Black Lives Matter and LGBTQ+ Pride messages do. This is protected speech.
It's critical to share these stories. This part of U.S. history is news to non-indigenous Americans. I'm grateful @SecDebHaaland is leading this unfiltered discovery. It prepares us for Truth and Reconciliation efforts, as South Africa did after Apartheid. https://t.co/j2YI5j660r
