When we burn ourselves, it's not that we don't deserve heat. Maybe we need a bigger fire. A campfire. With friends, families, allies. We don't need to get so close to the fire when we're huddled so close to each other.
Shame is like burning your hand on a fire and deciding that you don't deserve heat. So, you take your clothes off and burn them in the fire. But soon, you're cold. Unbearably so. The only way to feel warm again is by getting close to the fire. Close enough to burn yourself again.
Right now, we're living in (what will become) the nostalgic memory of our future selves. What unique experiences can we be grateful for in this present moment that we will remember fondly later?
