Looking forward to heading to Perth on NYD for Perth Cup with Epsom Derby winner Serpentine, It will be the first time the blue and white colours have graced Ascot.
Just waiting on flight ✈️conformation from @PerthRacing then it’s all systems go.
"It is quite rare now to have a born and bred local that has come through the system here run in the Cup, let alone win it."
The 2019 champ will run in his fourth Melbourne Cup on Tuesday. https://t.co/1NR8oMW64r
Drops to 51kgs, more likely than not to get preferred firmer footing. Cup winning rider Jye McNeil goes on. Currently 50/1 most places. Can be in it for a long way on speed if he can draw a gate.
2023 Melbourne Cup: SERPENTINE: Form profile: Went too hard in front Q22 WFA 6 lengths behind WITHOUT A FIGHT, meets him 5.5kgs better.
Resumed, 2nd ATHABASCAN LR conceding 6kgs 1/3
POINT KING looked magnificent in the parade but never really traveled comfortably throughout, giving ground from the 600m and finishing out the back, with a trip to Melbourne now looking highly unlikely.
@TeamWilliamsFan I’m dying to see Serpentine back to his best. I think if they can get the best out of him Aussie racing will suit him perfectly. I think he could lead all the way run them into the ground in a Caulfield Cup
Nick Williams spoke about KING OF THE CASTLE on @RSN927 this morning, saying he was an out and out stayer who would more than likely be aimed at the lesser staying races this Spring. Well worth a listen @m_felgate
@TeamWilliamsFan Have they or anyone around the group made any public comment about how king of the castle is going?
I’d have thought reasonably well forward with the Bart Cummings likely target in 3 weeks?
@AussieBenC I haven’t seen any mention but he was a cracking fourth from the back in a brutal Irish St Leger last time out, albeit 12mths ago. Looking forward to seeing him Saturday.
After Tuesday’s first acceptances Team Williams have 7 horses still in contention for the Melbourne Cup, with POINT KING and POINT NEPEAN looking the most likely challengers with 2020 Epsom Derby winner SERPENTINE the most intriguing Spring entry #CupWatch
@TheOzSportsman@NeilEvansmail Hi, the last two Sportsman’Special’ editions haven’t been uploaded to the website. I’ve contact the support email and they’ve referred me to the publisher. Who is the contact please? Many thanks.
