Speaking of Penske conflicts of interest, he owns a racing series that might benefit from NASCAR self destructing as well as a team. But considering indycar teams want charters, does he really want to encourage this?
I think NASCAR teams are correct that they need some sort of revenue sharing. With racing, I just don't think a focus on streaming will work without it. Too hard to get sponsors when you're on streaming even though streaming is very popular now
Damnit! That’s not good news at all for #IndyCar! 🤦♀️ If you can’t garner minimum 1mil after such a salacious controversy promoting great curiosity, then I don’t know what sort of wake up call you need! But seriously, HELP IS NEEDED ASAP!!
Penske's position in any NASCAR and team fight is interesting. He owns a rival series, owns one of the most important tracks and runs a street course that both series might consider in a civil war. He also was a big CART guy, but also saw what that did. His words will hold power
@3SNdot@Indycardj32 I don't think it really matters they're a 3 car team, it's not like this spot is their only chance at a title. I agree being a 1 year deal doesnt help.
❗️ 12 members of the United States Congress have written to Liberty Media chief Greg Maffei to express their concerns over F1 shunning Andretti and General Motors' bid to join the F1 grid by 2026.
They've listed three questions they want answered by May 3 ⤵️
"One option was for the teams to form their own race series with all the top racers and owners. If NASCAR tried to impede their access to racetracks, Kessler said, 'they open themselves up to antitrust violations.'" - @NYTimes https://t.co/GRHOe6cHnv
McLaren IndyCar canning their injured driver is wierd. Teams regularly hold onto spots for hurt guys all the time in racing. It's a 3 car team, and its IndyCar. What development are they missing lmao.
The biggest on track improvement IndyCar made from 2012 on is that the car in most of its iterations (cc Aerokit) can handle side to side contact so passing happens at places youd otherwise not expect it like barber and long beach.
While cheating is a part of racing' getting caught killed Micheal Waltrip racing in the end. It can be a bad look for fans and sponsors. Especially fans outside of the hardcore racing fan group.
@Brian_Murphy_ It's different when the team owner owns the series, the overnight occured during series development testing (a sore subject in both NASCAR and IndyCar) and the incident involves code mandated by the series like the hard limits on p2p.
@atflorio Especially when it's the series owner, who gained the advantage through series development testing, which involved modifying code designed to put a hard limit on p2p use that every team has to use. That's a lot more than a trick wing. Add penske and ganassi winning most races...
The number of people trying to normalize Penske cheating doesn't make sense to me.
Cheating has occurred throughout the history of the sport, but that doesn't make it okay.
How long has Team Penske been cheating? “Last year, Newgarden pushed the button 29 times on either starts or restarts. Power did it 12 times. And McLaughlin did it 7 times.” -Cindric
It is likely they would have continued to cheat if they did not get caught. Shit hits the fan
The Penske cheating issue in IndyCar is a big deal because 1- Penske owns the series 2 - it allegedly involves the programming of a hard limit on push to pass 3- Penske claims it occured due to code modifications made for hybrid testing 4- Penske and Ganassi win most races.
.@USANetwork got 307,000 viewers for Sunday's IndyCar race at Long Beach (TV only); no direct comparison because last year was on @NBC, but that race got 1.026 million.
