🇮🇳 Empowering Dreams, Shaping Futures

On 22 June 2026, the Indian Army felicitated nine talented girls from Team Strigmo, a Kargil-based NGO, for their outstanding contributions towards promoting education, creativity and art in remote areas of Kargil District.

On the occasion, Archery Kits, sponsored by Axis Max Life Insurance, were presented to Miss Toyeeba Fatima and Miss Salama Banoo of Sankoo Village, who have represented Suru Valley at State and National-level Archery Competitions.

Their achievements stand as an inspiration for young girls across the region, encouraging them to pursue excellence and realise their aspirations.

During his visit to Drass District, Chief Secretary UT Ladakh Shri Ashish Kundra, IAS @ashishkundra visited Govt Hr. Sec. School Drass where students extended a vibrant welcome through traditional Shina & Balti cultural performances showcasing the rich heritage of the region.

#CS @ashishkundra released Shina Qaida by Mohd Shafi Sagar and Punar by Shabbir Ahmed Misbahi, appreciating the initiative towards preserving local languages and literature.

Chief Secretary @ashishkundra felicitated District Toppers of Classes 10th & 12th (2025–26) and encouraged students to become job creators, pursue innovation, and work towards their aspirations with dedication.

He also stressed the importance of preserving cultural traditions and directed for career counselling initiatives in coordination with GDC Drass to support informed academic and career choices.

Suru Summer Carnival – Khumbathang

Indian Army organised the first-ever Suru Summer Carnival at Khumbathang on 30 May 2026 under Operation Sadbhavana.

The carnival witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 800 civilians and troops, bringing together the local community in a celebration of sports, culture and camaraderie.

The event featured archery competitions 🏹, youth games, kite flying 🪁, food stalls, a Women Empowerment Centre stall and vibrant cultural performances, ensuring active participation throughout the day.

The carnival provided a vibrant platform for community interaction, cultural exchange and meaningful engagement.
