The Inter-Area Women’s and Men’s Table Tennis Tournament 2026–27, organized by Nagpur Area of WCL, concluded with a prize distribution ceremony on 30 July 2026 in the presence of the Chief Guest, Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance & Human Resources), WCL, and the Guest of Honour, Shri Ajay Madhukar Mhetre, CVO, WCL. Held from 28 to 30 July 2026, the tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from players representing various Areas of WCL, showcasing excellent sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, and competitive spirit. Addressing the gathering, Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance & Human Resources), WCL, congratulated the winners and participants for their outstanding performances. He appreciated women’s participation and emphasized the importance of sports in promoting discipline, leadership, teamwork, confidence and overall well-being, encouraging employees to actively participate in sporting activities. WCL Headquarters emerged as the Champions in the Men’s Table Tennis Championship, while Nagpur Area secured the Runner-up position. In the Women’s Table Tennis Championship, Umred Area emerged as the Champions, with Nagpur Area finishing as the Runner-up. The championship was inaugurated on 28 July 2026 by Shri Harshad Datar, Area General Manager, Nagpur Area. The closing ceremony was attended by senior officials, employees, players, referees, organizing committee members, support staff, and members of the WCL Steering Committee and Welfare Board.

WCL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to provide financial assistance for the procurement of an Aquatic Weed Removal Machine for the restoration and conservation of lakes in Nagpur City. The MoU was signed in presence of Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance & Human Resources), WCL by Shri Lalit Prakash Tirkey, General Manager (CSR), WCL, and Shri Rajesh Govindrao Gurmuley, Executive Engineer, NMC. Theproject will support the mechanized removal of aquatic weeds and floating waste from lakes, contributing to improved water quality, ecological conservation, enhanced biodiversity and a cleaner, healthier urban environment. Through such initiatives, WCL continues to strengthen its commitment to sustainable development and creating a positive impact in the communities it serves.

WCL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shri Mahalakshmi Jagdamba Sansthan (SMJSK), Koradi, to provide CSR financial assistance of ₹2.00 crore for the development and construction of Sevanand School, Koradi. The MoU was signed in the presence of Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance & HR), WCL, by Shri Lalit Prakash Tirkey, General Manager (CSR), WCL, and the authorized representative of Shri Mahalakshmi Jagdamba Sansthan. This initiative reinforces WCL's commitment to strengthening access to quality and affordable education for students from rural, semi-urban and economically weaker sections of society. By supporting the development of modern educational infrastructure, WCL aims to empower young learners to pursue higher education, realize their aspirations and build brighter futures. WCL ने 25–27 जुलाई 2026 के दौरान भारत मंडपम, नई दिल्ली में आयोजित प्रतिष्ठित "राइजिंग पीएसई एक्सपो 2026" में अपने प्रदर्शनी स्टॉल के लिए प्रथम पुरस्कार प्राप्त कर एक और उपलब्धि अपने नाम की। यह सम्मान सतत कोयला खनन के क्षेत्र में WCL की उत्कृष्ट पहल, पर्यावरण-अनुकूल खनन, तकनीकी नवाचार, खदान पुनर्वास तथा सतत विकास के प्रभावी प्रदर्शन के लिए प्रदान किया गया। श्री आशीष तायल, वरिष्ठ प्रबंधक (जनसंपर्क) के नेतृत्व में चार सदस्यीय टीम ने WCL का प्रभावी प्रतिनिधित्व किया। टीम में श्री राम जेट्टी, उप प्रबंधक (जनसंपर्क), श्री मनोज साराभाई, उप- प्रबंधक (खनन) तथा श्री अमित खैरे, कनिष्ठ तकनीकी निरीक्षक शामिल थे । टीम ने अपने आकर्षक एवं जानकारीपूर्ण प्रदर्शन के माध्यम से आगंतुकों, नीति-निर्माताओं, उद्योग जगत के प्रतिनिधियों तथा स्कूली छात्रों को WCL की उपलब्धियों से अवगत कराया। नई दिल्ली से लौटने के पश्चात टीम ने विजेता ट्रॉफी WCL के निदेशक मंडल को भेंट की। निदेशक मंडल ने टीम को इस उल्लेखनीय उपलब्धि पर बधाई देते हुए उनकी समर्पित कार्यशैली, उत्कृष्ट समन्वय एवं WCL के प्रभावी प्रतिनिधित्व की सराहना की। इस प्रदर्शनी के सफल आयोजन में महाप्रबंधक (खनन/ जनसंपर्क) श्री सतीश आर. गबाले का विशेष योगदान रहा ।

WCL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IMT Nagpur on 29 July 2026, marking another significant step towards strengthening leadership development and building future-ready talent. The collaboration will facilitate the delivery of state-of-the-art Executive Development Programmes (EDPs) for WCL's senior and middle-level executives, enhancing their strategic, managerial and leadership capabilities. The MoU was signed in presence of Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, WCL, Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance/HR), WCL by Shri M.K. Gupta, GM/HOD (E&M/HRD), WCL, and Dr. P. Janaki Ramudu, Dean (Research), IMT Nagpur. Other senior dignitaries from IMT Nagpur, including Dr. Rajneesh Chauhan, Director and Dr. Abhishek Narain Singh, Chairperson (EDPs) were prominently present on the occassion. Through this partnership, WCL aims to enhance the strategic, managerial and leadership competencies of its executives, creating a strong pipeline of future-ready leaders.

WCL has taken another significant step towards inclusive development by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Atmadeepam Society, Nagpur on 29 July 2026 for the implementation of "Project Pragati – Digital Literacy & Livelihood Empowerment Programme, under CSR." The MoU was signed in presence of Director (Finance & HR), WCL Shri. Bikram Ghosh by Shri Lalit Prakash Tirkey, General Manager (CSR), WCL, and Ms. Jigyasa Kubde Chawaldhal, Founder & Authorized Representative, Atmadeepam Society. Under this project, 90 visually impaired and other persons with disabilities from Nagpur will receive certified training through MS-CIT and GCC-TBC courses, focusing on digital literacy, computer operations and typing skills. Leveraging modern screen-reader technology, the programme aims to equip participants with the skills required to access better employment opportunities across the government, banking and private sectors.
