Capitec app user hits R41 million lotto jackpot

South Africa has a new millionaire. One lucky player won the R41 million Lotto jackpot in Draw 2571, held on August 27.

The winning ticket, purchased for R30 via the Capitec banking app with manually selected numbers, has secured a life-changing windfall for its owner.

Ithuba, the operator of the National Lottery, confirmed the win and said the winner would be contacted through Capitec to begin the claims process.

In addition to their prize, the new millionaire will receive free trauma counseling and financial advice to help manage the sudden wealth.

The identity of the winner remains confidential as the process to claim the jackpot begins.
