@Google Cloud went down for nearly 8 hours. What happens when your business depends on it? ⚠️

A power-related outage in Google Cloud's London region disrupted banking apps and business services on October 20, affecting customers including @Revolut and @HalifaxBank.

Nearly 8 hours of disruption, which affected cloud infrastructure and services including Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, and Cloud Storage. The banking services were also interrupted. Revolut reported issues with card payments and ATM withdrawals, while Halifax experienced online banking problems.

The service was restored and Google confirmed full availability, but businesses still need to check for failed transactions, delayed jobs, and other recovery issues.

@Apple is putting 512GB of memory in a Mac Studio. Is that enough to run powerful AI models without the cloud?

Apple's highest-memory M5 Ultra Mac Studio is expected to arrive in late October, targeting developers and businesses running demanding AI workloads.

It was designed for memory-intensive applications, including local AI inference. Also, it supports advanced workloads, but some of the largest AI models still require multiple machines.
