One really annoying new convention is how everyone has to caveat or qualify every time they might be perceived as agreeing with or defending the views or actions of someone who’s known for being a racist whether or not it’s even true. “He’s not wrong but it’s a shame he’s the one saying it…” “You may disagree with his views but…” “Rare good take…” It’s childish and cowardly. It should go without saying and the fact anyone feels like they have to be explicit about it is just intellectual poverty. And also part of the problem.
