Nobody is arguing against spending what's needed during an emergency.

The question is why Ontario continues to budget below what recent fire seasons have required when we know these emergencies are becoming more frequent and more complex.

Budgets are about preparedness. Emergency spending is about catching up (and you end up spending more in the long run).

The stories coming out of Northern Ontario are absolutely devastating. Families forced to flee by boat, homes gone, and Collins First Nation is destroyed.

As these communities face unimaginable loss, they need immediate support.

Every day without adequate support leaves people without housing, critical infrastructure, health care , and the resources they need to recover.

Leadership means preparing for climate-related emergencies, investing in emergency preparedness, and responding with urgency.
