For the past few months @prospect_uk I’ve been profiling the mayor of Tower Hamlets, alongside @Coramazov a fellow at the Centre for Investigative Journalism.
Mayor Lutfur Rahman is a complex political figure. He’s both Icarus and Lazarus.

Read about the contentious past, progressive policy and future plans of Lutfur Rahman, a man who completed one of the most dramatic comebacks in British political history.

Properly tense exchange there between Grant Shapps and Mishal Husain on the BBC's coverage of the war in Israel/Gaza.
Husain making Shapps look like a bit of a chump, it has to be said.

@markswift1966@JuliaKollewe@ByRobDavies ‘Built despite opposition from locals’ can also be balanced by built with massive support from locals whose council has approved plan after plan and earned huge sums in infrastructure investment, not to mention locals, including councillors, who’ve made a killing on house prices
@JuliaKollewe@ByRobDavies I've lived there for 26 years and it has never been more vibrant, it's packed at weekends in particular. It's character is just evolving which is a good thing.
And as for ‘soulless’, what exactly do they mean? Clean, well looked after, great landscaping, nice walks by the water,v little traffic and at weekends/in the evenings loads of families out in cleaner air. An oasis in Tower Hamlets and miles better than the gritty, puke-filled City
Latest doom-laden article (following the FT) predicting death of ‘soulless’ Canary Wharf. Written seemingly by people who rarely go there. And all focusing on experience of commuters;no references at all to massive career opportunities it’s given to locals. https://t.co/YqI2uaejZ4
