The Bill Belichick Era has finally arrived. For North Carolina, this is a grand experiment that goes far beyond the football field. I spoke to leaders @UNC for the inside story of how this move is reshaping the landscape in Chapel Hill:

North Carolina's Q1 record was awful. But of the eight metrics the committee uses, UNC was first in five of them. Using an 8-7-6-etc scoring system, the Tar Heels' 51 points easily topped the Last Four In/First Four Out (WVa 42; Texas 41; OSU 36; X 33; SDSU 31; IU 28; Boise 27)
North Carolina's last four full-time hires for this job include a guy who built maybe the most talented team in CFB history (Butch Davis at Miami), a CFB Hall of Famer (Mack Brown) and now the NFL GOAT in Bill Belichick. Speaks to the power and potential of Tar Heel football
Welcome to Chapel Hill, Bill Belichick!
The eight-time Super Bowl Champion has officially been named our next @UNCFootball Head Coach.
#GoHeels x #ChapelBill
It’s official:
Yankees vs. Dodgers.
Judge/Soto/Stanton vs Ohtani/Betts/Freeman.
Broadway vs. Hollywood.
The best franchises in baseball history. The best teams in baseball this year.
MLB got the World Series matchup it’s been dreaming of for years. Ratings Watch is on…
Key for the Yankees tonight: situational hitting.
In 7 postseason games:
15 situations with at least two runners on base and fewer than two outs. Total Run Expectancy in those situations: 22.6
Actual Results: 12 runs in those situations and a .111 batting average (4-for-36)
Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge in the same sport at the same time doing unheard of things is so far and away the best thing happening in American sports right now it isn’t even close. The time and attention paid to middling quarterback performances by comparison is laughable.
Fun to be a part of this podcast that is a regular part of my rotation anyway. @jadamlucas and @JonesAngell are the best in the biz. Come for the time Roy Williams got in my face over Neil Fingleton! Stay to find out which league is ahead of the game.

With a mother who has dealt with lupus (fortunately not as severe as detailed in this piece), this story was especially memorable. Congrats to my friend @SamBorden and his colleagues for shining an important light on this subject.

The Pete Rose/HBO doc debuts tonight and the reviews of my performance are in: @THR says I'm "strident" and "trustworthy." The @WSJ says I give a "very logical, ethical and commercial argument." I did the interview 18 months ago, so I hope they're right

I flew to Birmingham on Wednesday for the Rickwood Field event and on the way there learned of an unexpected connection between my baseball-loving grandfather, who died in 1986, and Willie Mays, who had died the day before. So I wrote a short essay about it.
"You would have loved this... An actual Major League Baseball regular-season game in your home state!"
MLB's game at Rickwood Field created a unique connection for SBJ's @TedKeith02, whose grandfather, Larry Keith Sr., was a PA announcer there.

Longest story I ever wrote for Sports Illustrated was in this issue. Working there was the sports journalism equivalent of reaching the majors, and having a feature story published was like a three-HR game. You'd always have one day where you felt like you were as good as anyone
