The UK state wants to force YouTube to comply with a "prominence regime" which provides a "privileged position" to establishment media (the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, etc.) over independent creators and alternative media.

The state is trying to crush channels like mine, causing my content to be "downranked" compared to their favoured broadcasters, because its ideology cannot withstand scrutiny.

Even YouTube is opposed to the proposed rules. There is a public consultation, but as usual, the government will likely ignore the negative responses and tick the box for performing mandatory stakeholder engagement.

I wonder what the US State Department will make of this pressure put on an American company to censor British people?

They want YouTube to artificially boost the BBC and Channel 4's content, and suffocate independent journalists and producers.
